GURGAON: Following our commitment towards preserving the environment, Panasonic India on the occasion of World Environment Day partnered with Envirocare Infotain INC, to announce the advent of its tree plantation activities at Sukhrali village with an objective of giving back to the mother Earth. ‘World Environment Day’ was observed in unique style & proved to give a kick start to the series of symbolic tree plantation activities planned in the city in the days to come.

Among the dignitaries present at the occasion were- T.L Satya Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon,Deepak Ramesh Gaur, ‘The Tree Man‘ and Radhika Kalia, Head Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, Panasonic India. The gathered dignitaries planted the saplings at the plantation arena on the borderline of water reservoir in Sukhrali villgae and vowed for nurturing and taking extra care of the trees around. The fundamental motto of the entire initiative is to ‘Spread awareness, save sparrows and protect environment’

This extensive effort of plantation is to instill a desire in the hearts of public to save the mother earth and strengthen the ecosystem in order to avoid the extinction of sparrows. As a part of the drive, the plan is to be further executed on 15th of June at HSIDC Auditorium, Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon.

The various activities planned include: tree plantation at Leisure Valley Park, Gurgaon; placing earthen pots for sparrow feeding in massive numbers at RWAs; individual residents, and essay writing competition for school children on ‘Sparrows, We & environment’

Also, a seminar on ‘we and environment: issues & challenges associated with the same’ will be organized with leading environmentalist, intellectuals and green crusaders along with cultural program to promote cause of friendship and humanity via Greenery by Generation Next by Students.

Chief Guest T.L Satya Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon said “This initiative by Panasonic aptly captures the ethos of a forestation. This step will enable citizens to be responsible towards the earth, environment, habitat, culture and critical resources. They are empowered to adopt ways and methods which are ecologically acceptable and will benefit the society as a whole.

The collaborative effort by Panasonic and ‘The Tree Man’ will help sustain the endangered species like sparrows, and continue the plantation drive to achieve notable output. This will not only result in a transition to more of such tree plantation activities but such initiatives will also make a difference in conserving the valuable resources and species”

Deepak Ramesh Gaur ‘The Tree Man’ said, “As a responsible citizen of this planet, we must act responsibly towards our Mother earth, it’s environment, culture and critical resources. I pledge to make Gurgaon the first city in the world to have a tree in every household. I thank T.L Satya Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon for finding time from his busy schedule, to be here with us today. I also appreciate Panasonic’s efforts and support in making this initiative a success”

Speaking at the occasion, Radhika Kalia, Head Corporate Affairs & CSR said “Panasonic India has been consistently working towards building a sustainable society and has been involved in environmental activities since its inception. The company recognizes the significance of this initiative and we are sure that this drive will be a huge success as it will conserve vital ecosystems and provide security to the endangered species. We are looking forward to the completion of the proposed plan which is expected to bring positive impact on the environment”

She further pointed that “Panasonic will continue to strengthen efforts towards achieving sustainable development in the country though undertaking various activities across education, health and environment. This particular collaboration with ‘The tree Man’ also brings Panasonic one step closer to its aim of becoming No.1 Green Innovation Company by 2018. In addition to this, Panasonic is hopeful that this initiative will make a difference in building country’s future by increasing environmental awareness amongst kids”

The entire activity is supported by title sponsors and green sponsors, who are promised that their meager investment to this cause will give them higher return in terms of brand awareness.
