NEW DELHI: Dalmia Bharat Group has been conferred with the prestigious CII-ITC Sustainability Award 2014 for ‘Significant Achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility’. This is the third consecutive year that Dalmia Bharat has received this award, underlining the company’s strong commitment towards serving the community and adopting sustainable practices in cement manufacturing. Dalmia Bharat was awarded under category A which comprises companies with a turnover of more than Rs 2,000 crore.
Gautam Dalmia, Managing Director, Dalmia Bharat Group, said, “It is a huge honour for us to receive the coveted CII-ITC Sustainability Award for the third time in a row. Corporate Social Responsibility is an intrinsic part of Dalmia Bharat. For the past 75 years, we have created and invested value in communities and will continue to do so.”
Last year, Dalmia Bharat received the ‘Commendation Certificate for Strong Commitment to Excel in the journey towards Sustainable Development’ for the year 2013. In 2012, the company received the ‘Commendation Certificate for Contributions to Sustainability and Conservation of the Environment’.
Dalmia Bharat was adjudged the winner from nearly 20 companies that applied from across industries basis meticulous scrutiny by an illustrious judging panel. The coveted CII-ITC sustainability awards were constituted by the CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development and have been in existence since 2006. The awards recognize India’s most sustainable companies that have been successful in embedding sustainability in their business models.
The Group is a prominent player in India’s core manufacturing sector since 1935, with a national footprint. With a turnover of over Rs 7,000 crore, it has a strong presence in cement, sugar, refractories and power. The firm also caters to an enduring and growing customer base in refractories and has forayed into sustainable power/energy.
