DEHRADUN: Max India Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of  the Max Group has initiated a tree plantation drive at Dhakrani village, Vikasnagar Block in Uttarakhand State with the help of Eco Task Force of the Territorial Army. 200 saplings of Mango, Guava, Amla and Litchi provided by the Eco Task Force were planted today to mark the launch of this drive.

The campaign was kicked off in the presence of Nav Prabhat MLA Vikasnagar and Mohini Daljeet Singh, CEO, Max India Foundation. Several employees of Max Healthcare and Max Life Insurance also participated in the plantation drive.

In August-September 2015, Max India Foundation had similarly carried out a tree plantation drive in collaboration with the Mussoorie Forest Division, planting more than 650 saplings and flowering trees along a 15-km stretch on the Dehradun-Mussoorie road and other areas in the Raipur Range Forest Division.

Tree plantation is part of the Max Group’s adoption programme in Dhakrani village which involves multiple interventions in the areas of on healthcare, sanitation, waste management and safe drinking water to improve the lives of the villagers.

Participating in the tree plantation drive, Navprabhat MLA, said, “It is really heartening to see the commitment of Max Group towards the development of the community in Dhakrani. The people of this village have gained a lot in terms of health, education and environment after the intervention of Max India Foundation last year”.

Max India Foundation tree plantation drive at its adopted village in Dehradun“We decided to take advantage of the upcoming rainy season to start this activity. The plantations is being carried out with the active participation of local communities, authorities and institutions to encourage a sense of ownership. The villagers in Dhakrani are directly involved in the implementation of this drive”, said Mohini Daljeet Singh, CEO, Max India Foundation.

While the initial 200 saplings were provided by the Eco Task Force, the rest 550 saplings will be provided by the state government nursery.

In June 2015, Max India Foundation ‘adopted’ the village of Dhakrani under its  Village Adoption programme. Under the programme multiple interventions were launched in the village aimed at improving the residents’ overall quality of life.

Health has been a focus area, together with sanitation and the environment. Located along the banks of the River Yamuna in Vikasnagar Tehsil of Dehradun district, Dhakrani is one of the largest villages in the state. A solid waste management programme covering the entire village has been rolled out and a sustainable underground sewerage system in the village is being implemented. A waste management system covering the entire village has also been implemented, including collection of waste from households and the plan is to compost the organic waste and segregate plastic that can be recycled.

The Max India Foundation

MAX INDIA FOUNDATION New logoThe Foundation, founded in 2008, is focused on providing healthcare, creating health awareness and endeavors to spread awareness for protecting our environment on behalf of the Max Group companies. The Foundation has so far benefitted over 1.7 million people in 660 locations from the underserved communities across the country in partnership with more than 400 NGOs. This is done through holding pan India immunization camps, health and cancer screening camps, health centres and artificial limbs & polio callipers camps along with facilitating high end surgeries and treatment. Cancer has been a focus area due to the alarming increase in incidence and inability of the underserved to afford the treatment and challenges.

With the aim of enhancing its intervention in the rural areas of Dehradun, two village clusters Dhakrani and Chandrothi Gram Sabha were adopted by MIF in 2015. The priority areas for intervention in the villages are health, sanitation and hygiene.
