Tecumseh and United Way of Delhi inaugurate Project Kaushal Setu at CMRA Government Polytechnic, strengthening advanced manufacturing skills in Haryana.
SANGHI. Haryana (India CSR): Tecumseh has inaugurated its CSR initiative, Project Kaushal Setu, at CMRA Government Polytechnic in collaboration with United Way of Delhi. The initiative was inaugurated by Tecumseh Global Chief Executive Officer Ricardo Maciel and Chief Operations Officer Joao Daniel Dobner. Designed to bridge education and industry through skills, Kaushal Setu seeks to bring advanced manufacturing technology, practical learning and industry exposure closer to students. At its core is a simple idea: when young people gain access to the right skills, technology and exposure, they can imagine and build a bigger future for themselves and others. The programme marks the commissioning of new advanced infrastructure at the institute, including a Robot Welding Cell and CNC VMC. It also establishes a long-term industry–academia partnership focused on building technical competence, confidence and career opportunities for emerging talent in a rapidly changing industrial environment.
Technology Builds Confidence
The new learning infrastructure is expected to help students move beyond theoretical understanding and engage more directly with modern manufacturing practices. Through practical exposure to advanced equipment and industry processes, students will be encouraged to develop technical capabilities, a problem-solving mindset and workplace readiness. The initiative recognises that employability today requires more than academic knowledge; it also demands familiarity with technology, the ability to adapt and the confidence to address real-world challenges. Project Kaushal Setu is intended to support this transition by creating an environment where students can learn through experience and better understand the expectations of the manufacturing sector. The collaboration also reflects the value of corporate participation in strengthening public technical education institutions. By connecting classroom learning with industry-relevant infrastructure and guidance, the initiative aims to make skill development more meaningful for students preparing for future careers in engineering, manufacturing and related fields.

Leaders Inspire Engineers
Addressing students during the inauguration, Ricardo Maciel spoke about Tecumseh’s vision and mission and shared reflections from his own journey into engineering. He encouraged students to view engineering as a career with the power to create solutions, improve lives and move the technology frontier forward. “Engineering is a wonderful career and engineers have an important role in moving the technology frontier forward, breaking barriers and paradigms, and developing solutions that are affordable and accessible to everyone,” he said. Reflecting on the wider purpose of Kaushal Setu, Maciel said that the initiative is “not only for today, but about tomorrow”, with an emphasis on developing capabilities, problem-solving qualities and readiness for future opportunities. He also acknowledged Tecumseh alumni present at the event and highlighted the organisation’s global outlook and opportunities. Sharing his appreciation for India’s warmth, traditions and culture during his visit, he expressed hope that he would return to see the continued growth of students and the Kaushal Setu initiative.

Pathways Beyond Classrooms
Joao Daniel Dobner said the students’ aspirations and their desire to use engineering to contribute to society made the occasion especially meaningful. Reflecting on his own career journey, he underlined Tecumseh’s commitment to providing students with strong learning opportunities and the infrastructure required to support their development in the years ahead. Dr. Y.P.S. Berwal, Director, CMRA Government Polytechnic, said the collaboration would give students valuable exposure to modern manufacturing technologies and industry practices. “It bridges classroom learning with practical experience, enhancing their workplace readiness. Learning directly from industry experts helps students build confidence and professional skills,” he said. Dr. Sujeet Ranjan, CEO, United Way of Delhi, said the partnership demonstrated how industry, education institutions and development organisations can create opportunities beyond infrastructure. He added that the true measure of the initiative would be reflected in the journeys of students who learn, grow and build careers through these opportunities. Through Kaushal Setu, the partners aim to create pathways from technical education to industry exposure, professional growth and potential employment opportunities.
