MUMBAI (India CSR): IIFL Foundation, in partnership with Yashlok Welfare Foundation, has provided eco-friendly raincoats made from recycled PVC plastic waste to Mumbai Police personnel deployed for festival bandobast duties.
The initiative is aimed at supporting personnel who remain on duty in challenging weather conditions while also advancing circularity through the reuse of discarded plastic. The raincoats are designed to offer protection from rain during field deployment and public-safety operations.
Beyond the distribution, the initiative supports skill development and livelihood opportunities for 80 beneficiaries involved in the manufacturing process. By converting plastic waste into functional protective gear, the programme links environmental responsibility with community-based economic opportunity.
The raincoat distribution took place in the presence of senior police officials, Madhu Jain, Director, IIFL Foundation, and Alok Adhikari, Director, Yashlok Welfare Foundation.
The partnership reflects an approach to CSR that combines support for frontline public-service personnel with waste reduction, skills development and livelihood generation. Such initiatives can help extend the value of recycled materials while creating products that serve an immediate community need.
