NEW DELHI (India CSR): Birlasoft Ltd part of the multibillion-dollar CKA Birla Group, is putting human potential at the heart of innovation by advancing its commitment to inclusive education for individuals with visual impairment.
For millions of visually impaired students around the world, the desire to learn is no different from that of any other child. Yet something as simple as finding a book they can read, a screen they can navigate, or someone to guide them can become a barrier to the education they deserve. According to the World Health Organization, over 2.2 billion people globally live with vision impairment. Behind this staggering statistic lies a quiet reality: children and young adults who are consistently left behind in traditional classrooms simply because learning materials aren’t built for them.
Driven by the belief that technology can bridge this gap, Birlasoft is creating inclusive learning spaces that support self-reliance, creativity, and career confidence.
Restoring the Joy of Digital Learning, Music, and Connection
At the core of Birlasoft’s mission is creating an environment where students can learn independently and excel academically. In Hyderabad, the company established a technology-driven Braille Digital Library at the VH Women Hostel in Saroor Nagar. Designed to solve the acute shortage of accessible study materials, the facility brings together tactile Braille books, printed scripts, audio-based content, structured learning aids, and assistive infrastructure, giving young women the tools and confidence to pursue their educational goals on their own terms.
In Delhi, Birlasoft further strengthened these efforts by upgrading the digital library and computer lab at Akhil Bhartiya Netrahin Sangh with infrastructure and laptops. Recognizing that human growth goes beyond textbooks, Birlasoft also reached out to support the organization’s classical music programme with essential musical instruments and learning resources, giving students a soulful outlet for artistic expression, healing, and self-belief.
Together, these initiatives have benefited 215+ visually impaired students so far, expanding access to learning, technology, and opportunities for greater independence.
Complementing these physical facilities, Birlasoft employees have brought real heart to the initiative by volunteering their time as mentors. Sitting alongside students, volunteers conduct hands-on career guidance and digital literacy sessions. They equip learners with practical knowledge on exploring IT sector careers, navigating government support schemes, understanding recruitment processes, and building crucial communication skills and personality development. For these students, these interactions offer far more than training; they provide a clear roadmap to financial independence and a warm reminder that their future is full of promise.
