CSR expenditure increased by nearly 76% from Rs. 96 crore in FY22 to Rs. 168.70 crore in FY26.

MUMBAI (India CSR): UltraTech Cement Limited spent a cumulative Rs. 681.86 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives during the five financial years from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26, according to an India CSR analysis of the company’s latest disclosures. The company’s annual CSR expenditure increased from Rs. 96 crore in FY 2021-22 to Rs. 168.70 crore in FY 2025-26. This represents growth of nearly 76% over five years and a compound annual growth rate of approximately 15.14%.

UltraTech spent Rs. 116 crore in FY 2022-23, Rs. 136 crore in FY 2023-24 and Rs. 165.16 crore in FY 2024-25. Its CSR expenditure rose further by 2.14% to Rs. 168.70 crore during FY 2025-26.

The world’s largest cement company delivered stellar growth in FY 2025-26, with record net revenue of $10 billion (Rs 88,512 crore) and EBITDA of $2.0 billion (Rs 17,598 crore). This represents year-on-year growth of 17% and 32%, respectively. Consolidated profit after tax (PAT) increased by 36% to $927 million (Rs 8,188 crore). The annual report said that the Company is now the world’s largest cement company by sales volume and capacity outside China. At 200 MTPA, its installed capacity is nearly double that of the United
States and exceeds the total cement capacity of the European Union. Equally significant, no other Indian company has achieved this scale of capacity in any sector. With committed investments of Rs. 16,000 crore, it aims to increase its total cement capacity to more than 240 MTPA by FY2027-28.

UltraTech Exceeds Statutory CSR Obligation

UltraTech Cement’s statutory CSR obligation for FY 2025-26 stood at Rs. 156.59 crore, calculated as 2% of its average net profit of Rs. 7,829.65 crore during the preceding three financial years. The company spent Rs. 12.11 crore more than the prescribed obligation, exceeding the mandatory requirement by approximately 7.73%. It reported no unspent CSR amount for the financial year.

Of the total expenditure, Rs. 160.33 crore was deployed across ongoing and other CSR projects. Administrative overheads accounted for Rs. 8.20 crore, while Rs. 17 lakh was spent on impact assessments. Direct project expenditure represented approximately 95.04% of UltraTech’s total CSR spending during the financial year.

CSR Programmes Reach 507 Villages

UltraTech report said its CSR programmes reached approximately 1.8 million people across 507 villages in 17 states during FY 2025-26. The company worked across five principal areas: education and capability enhancement, healthcare, sustainable livelihoods, infrastructure development and social empowerment.

Infrastructure development recorded the highest disclosed reach, benefiting 7,14,700 people. Healthcare programmes reached 4,51,361 people, while social empowerment initiatives covered 3,40,537 beneficiaries. Sustainable livelihood programmes benefited 1,98,039 people, while education and capability enhancement initiatives reached 1,67,322 children and students. The company said more than 80% of its beneficiaries belonged to vulnerable and marginalised communities.

Focus on Education, Health and Livelihoods

UltraTech’s educational interventions included 37 Aditya Birla Public Schools serving 11,288 rural children. Its network of 698 Anganwadis reached 22,923 children, with 110 centres upgraded as model Anganwadis. Healthcare programmes included 1,711 Mobile Health Unit visits and 1,094 rural medical and awareness camps. These camps reached 1,54,812 villagers, while vaccination programmes covered 1,40,328 children.

Under livelihood development, UltraTech trained 8,219 farmers in sustainable agricultural practices. Veterinary camps immunised 32,881 animals, while vocational training programmes supported 3,281 individuals. The company also disclosed CSR expenditure of Rs. 7.61 crore in two aspirational districts. It spent Rs. 3.34 crore in Sirohi, Rajasthan, and Rs. 4.27 crore in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.

UltraTech implements its social programmes under the Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development, using community consultation, participatory planning and partnership-based implementation.
