VRL Logistics Spent Rs 4.41 Crore on CSR in FY26, Exceeded Obligation

VRL Logistics’ FY26 CSR spending supported education, healthcare, rural development, sports, environment and community welfare projects across India.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): VRL Logistics Limited, a surface logistics and transport company, spent Rs 4.41 crore on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in FY 2025-26, supporting education, healthcare, rural development, sports, environment and community welfare projects that reached more than 19,000 beneficiaries, according to the company’s 43rd Annual Report.

The annual report states that the company’s average net profit for the preceding three financial years, calculated under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013, stood at Rs 202.45 crore. Its prescribed CSR obligation was Rs 4.05 crore. After set-off adjustments from previous years, the total CSR obligation for the year was Rs 3.94 crore. Against this, VRL Logistics reported CSR expenditure of Rs 4.41 crore, resulting in excess spending of Rs 47.67 lakh.

CSR Spending

The company’s CSR projects were linked to Schedule VII areas, including education, health, rural development, environmental sustainability, sports and cultural promotion. The report highlights that education received major attention, with initiatives benefiting about 8,934 people. Around 80% of the beneficiaries were from vulnerable or marginalised groups.

The company provided Rs 50 lakh for the VidyaVikasa Kendra Project and Mahila Swavalabana Kendra Tailoring Centre. These initiatives focused on student development, women’s vocational training, support for orphans, slum dwellers and people from economically weaker sections. Another Rs 50 lakh was given for the construction of a student hostel in Bengaluru to provide concessional residential facilities for deserving students.

Education Support

VRL Logistics also donated a mini school bus worth Rs 25.95 lakh to Shri Channabasaveshwar Primary School in Ulavi. The report states that the bus will help children from economically weaker backgrounds access school.

Other education-linked CSR spending included Rs 15 lakh for six classrooms through Sneha Shikshana Samsthe, Rs 15 lakh to Giants Education Society for rural school infrastructure and youth skill development, Rs 6 lakh for the Pusthaka Project 2025 to distribute books and stationery, Rs 5.21 lakh for teacher salaries at Sahasrarjun Kannada Higher Primary School and Rs 5.17 lakh for Braille magazines for visually impaired readers.

Health Aid

Healthcare and humanitarian support reached 603 beneficiaries, with the report noting that the focus was on marginalised communities. VRL Logistics provided Rs 15 lakh for cochlear implant surgery for Samanvi Savadatti at SDM College of Medical Sciences and Hospital. The company also spent Rs 25 lakh on prosthetic support, including below-knee legs, crutches and walkers for disabled patients.

The report also mentions Rs 10 lakh for an old age home and orphanage in Dharwad, Rs 4.80 lakh for a cervical cancer vaccination drive for underprivileged girls in Northern Karnataka, Rs 3.44 lakh for cancer treatment support for Irakka Wali and Rs 5.04 lakh for food distribution to families of patients at Zanana Government Hospital in Jaipur.

Sports And Culture

The company supported 4,502 sports beneficiaries during the year. This included Rs 8.26 lakh for the Hubballi Half Marathon, Rs 5 lakh for sports attire and kits for state-level meets, Rs 2.20 lakh for weightlifting support and Rs 1 lakh for Trisha P Jadala’s participation in the Asian Championship in South Korea.

VRL Logistics also supported cultural activities, including Rs 17.70 lakh for construction of a Sabha Bhavan for classical music events and Rs 10 lakh for Nadasiri, a Hindustani classical music festival.

Green Measures

Environmental CSR included Rs 2.60 lakh for planting 1,000 trees through Earth Day Network India. The report also refers to environment-related business measures such as smaller electric vehicles for local deliveries, adoption of BS-VI compliant vehicles and rainwater harvesting at the company’s Varur facility.

CSR Oversight

The CSR Committee was chaired by Vijay Sankeshwar and included Anand Sankeshwar, Vinay Javali and Virupaxagouda A Patil. The committee met three times during FY 2025-26, according to the report. Its role includes reviewing CSR activities and ensuring alignment with the Companies Act and Schedule VII.
