NEW DELHI: Reiterating its commitment to provide a better life to the under privileged, Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India extended a helping hand to the Deepalaya School and renewed its association with the school for the 5th consecutive year.
Mr. AnshuBudhraja, Member – Executive Management Committee, Amway Opportunity Foundation, handed over a cheque of Rs. 1.30Lacs to Mr. T.M. Abraham & Mr. Sakhi John, Board Members of Deepalaya School, towards annual education and health sponsorship of 14 children.
The event commenced with the students of Deepalaya reciting the SaraswatiVandana. There was a dance competition followed by a quiz competition organized for the children. All the children were awarded with gifts and the winners were recognized with special gifts.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Anshu Budhraja, Member – Executive Management Committee, Amway Opportunity Foundation, said “Children are a pool of talent and they need a platform to showcase their talent and abilities. The dance performances by the children were commendable. Children are like flowers, they flourish if you give them adequate care. I hope and wish that these flowers will flourish one day and give fruits to the society”.
Mr. Sakhi John, Board Member, Deepalaya added “I am happy and grateful to Amway Opportunity Foundation for coming forward to help us. These efforts will surely help us go a long way. I wish more companies follow the steps of Amway India through their CSR activities so that we can have a better world to live in.”
About 80 students participated in the grand celebrations that took place at Kalkaji. Amway Opportunity Foundation and Deepalaya have been associated together since 2009. AOF has sponsored 22students’ annual education and health checkup for over 350 students in Delhi so far.
Deepalaya is an ISO 9001:2008 certified non – government organisation that believes in enabling self reliance and is committed to working on issues affecting the urban and rural poor, with a special focus on women and children. Over the years, Deepalaya has established several projects in the areas of Education (Formal/Non-Formal/Remedial), Women Empowerment (reproductive health, SHG, Micro-finance), Institutional care, Community health, Vocational training and Differently Abled. These projects are operational in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Till date, Deepalaya has reached out to more than 2,70,000 children, given vocational training to 9,700 adults and helped form more than 1,000 Self Help Groups with 11,000 women who have together saved Rs.408 million with a community revolving fund of Rs.1053 million.
