The administrative sanction of Rs 4 crore 19 lakh 52 thousand has been issued under the agriculture and allied activities sector for the financial year 2026–27.

Raigarh, Chhattisgarh (India CSR): Raigarh district has received a major boost for agriculture infrastructure with the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMF), Raigarh, approving Rs 4.19 crore for the construction of modern storage facilities in the district.

The approval has been granted under the leadership of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Finance Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary. The initiative aims to strengthen agriculture infrastructure, improve crop storage facilities, support better marketing of farm produce, and reduce post-harvest losses for farmers.

Under the project, five modern godowns with a combined storage capacity of 9,000 metric tonnes will be constructed in Kharsia and Gharghoda development blocks. The project also includes the construction of office buildings linked to the storage facilities.

The administrative sanction of Rs 4 crore 19 lakh 52 thousand has been issued under the agriculture and allied activities sector for the financial year 2026–27. The project has been approved as a high-priority work. The Executive Engineer, Rural Engineering Services Division, Raigarh, under the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, has been appointed as the implementing agency.

All construction works are targeted to be completed within one year, or 365 days.

Four Godowns in Kharsia

As part of the project, four godowns of 1,800 metric tonnes capacity each will be constructed at Gram Panchayat Temtema in Kharsia development block.

An amount of Rs 85.17 lakh has been sanctioned for Godown No. 1 along with an office building. For Godown No. 2, Godown No. 3, and Godown No. 4, Rs 79.15 lakh has been approved for each unit.

These facilities will significantly enhance local storage capacity and provide farmers with safer and more reliable options for storing their produce after harvest.

One Godown in Gharghoda

In Gharghoda development block, one modern godown with an office building will be constructed with a sanctioned amount of Rs 96.90 lakh. This facility will also have a storage capacity of 1,800 metric tonnes.

The godown is expected to benefit farmers in the surrounding areas by creating better arrangements for crop storage, preservation, and future marketing.

Direct Benefit to Farmers

The new storage infrastructure will help farmers protect their produce after harvesting. Better storage facilities are expected to reduce crop losses, increase holding capacity, and allow farmers to wait for the right market price instead of selling their produce in distress.

The project will also strengthen the collection, preservation, and marketing system for agricultural produce. This is expected to give new momentum to the rural economy and support agriculture-based livelihood activities in Raigarh district.

Focus on Quality and Transparency

The district administration has issued detailed guidelines to ensure transparent and quality implementation of the project.

A permanent information board will be installed at each construction site. The board will display the name of the scheme, sanctioned amount, DMF logo, work start date, and expected completion details.

Photography of every stage of construction and regular progress reports will also be mandatory. The administration has laid special emphasis on construction quality. If any deficiency in quality is found at any stage, the entire cost of correction will be borne by the concerned implementing agency.

The administration has also directed that the selected land must be dispute-free. No forest land or land under any court restriction will be used for the construction work.

Boost to Rural Economy

The DMF-funded initiative is expected to strengthen agricultural infrastructure in Raigarh district and provide long-term benefits to farmers. By expanding storage, marketing, and crop protection facilities, the project will support better farm income and give a new direction to agriculture-based economic activities in the district.
