UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and amongst the top ten silver producers globally, has strengthened its certified alloy portfolio with the extension of its BIS license scope to include Hindustan Zinc Die-Casting Alloy 5, or HZDA 5. The certification reinforces HZDA 5’s compliance with recognised quality standards and provides customers with added assurance on product consistency, reliability and performance.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification is India’s national quality assurance mark, confirming that a product meets defined standards for quality, safety, reliability and performance. For industrial customers, BIS certification provides added confidence that the material they source conforms to recognised specifications and is backed by consistent quality controls.
With both HZDA 3 and HZDA 5 now covered under BIS certification, Hindustan Zinc is offering customers a wider certified zinc alloy portfolio, strengthening its position as a trusted supplier of high-quality and responsibly produced zinc alloy products for domestic and international markets.
Speaking on the development, Arun Misra, CEO & Whole Time Director, Hindustan Zinc, said, “The extension of our BIS license scope to include HZDA 5 is an important step in strengthening customer confidence in our certified product portfolio. For us, certification is not only about meeting standards, but also about assuring customers of dependable quality and long-term value. As industries increasingly look for high-performance and responsibly produced metals, Hindustan Zinc remains committed to delivering products that customers can trust.”
Designed for applications where strength, precision, durability and performance are critical, HZDA 3 and HZDA 5 serve the evolving needs of industrial and manufacturing customers. Zinc die-casting alloys are widely used across sectors such as automotive, engineering, infrastructure and other industrial applications, where material integrity directly influences end-product performance.
The BIS license scope extension comes at a time when customers are increasingly prioritising certified products, supply reliability and responsible sourcing in procurement decisions. For industrial buyers, certification helps reduce sourcing risk, improve market acceptance and provide assurance that materials meet recognised quality standards.
This milestone also reflects Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to Total Quality Management, where quality is embedded across every stage of the value chain, from raw material sourcing and production to testing, logistics and customer delivery. The company’s robust quality systems, compliance framework and technology-led manufacturing capabilities support traceability, precision and consistency across production. Advanced systems such as Laboratory Information Management System and Agile Quality Circle further strengthen quality monitoring and process control, while certifications such as BIS, REACH and LBMA reinforce the company’s alignment with national and global quality benchmarks.
The development further strengthens Hindustan Zinc’s broader product portfolio, which spans refined zinc, lead, silver, zinc alloys and low-carbon zinc offerings such as EcoZen. With an expanded certified product basket, the company is better positioned to support customers looking for high-quality, responsibly produced and future-ready metal solutions.
Hindustan Zinc is also enabling greater transparency and customer convenience through digital platforms such as Vedanta Metal Bazaar (VMB), creating more direct and accountable engagement models for buyers across the value chain. This digital-first approach complements the company’s quality and governance framework by strengthening traceability, accessibility and customer trust.
With this latest BIS license scope extension, Hindustan Zinc continues to advance a customer-first approach built on certified quality, reliable supply and responsible production, strengthening its role as a trusted partner for India’s manufacturing and industrial growth.
