SAKTI, CHHATTISGARH (India CSR):  Reinforcing its commitment to community wellbeing and inclusive development, Vedanta Limited Chhattisgarh Thermal Power Plant (VLCTPP) has launched a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) under its flagship “Aarogya Project”, implemented as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The programme is being executed in collaboration with PHD Rural Development Foundation, New Delhi, and aims to provide essential healthcare services to nearly 7,000 residents across the Gram Panchayats of Singhitarai, Odekera, and Nimohi. The Mobile Health Unit was formally flagged off by Devendra Kumar Patel, Chief Operating Officer, VLCTPP, in the presence of public representatives and community members.

Soon after its launch, health camps were organised in Singhitarai, Benipali, Nimohi, and Katharrapali, benefiting nearly 200 villagers. During the camps, community members were sensitized on the importance of nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. The Mobile Health Unit is staffed by a qualified MBBS doctor and trained medical personnel, ensuring professional healthcare support in rural areas. The unit will operate on a pre-defined schedule, conducting daily camps at designated locations to provide free medical consultations, basic diagnostics, and essential medicines. Facilities for screening of common health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and anaemia have also been made available.

On the occasion, Rajinder Singh Ahuja, Chief Executive Officer, Vedanta Power Business, said, “Aligned with the vision of building a healthier India, Vedanta Power remains committed to strengthening healthcare access in underserved communities. Sustainable healthcare delivery requires unified action from governments, corporates, healthcare institutions, and communities. Through the Aarogya Project, we aim to ensure quality healthcare reaches those who need it the most.”

Speaking at the event, Devendra Kumar Patel, Chief Operating Officer, VLCTPP, reiterated the company’s commitment towards community welfare. He stated that the Mobile Health Unit will significantly benefit villagers, particularly senior citizens, women, and children, who often face challenges in accessing healthcare facilities. He added that the initiative will also play a crucial role in promoting preventive healthcare awareness and strengthening grassroots health services in the region.

Kritika Bhatt, Head – CSR, Vedanta Power, highlighted that the initiative is designed to deliver accessible and affordable healthcare services to rural communities. She further informed that periodic health awareness programmes focusing on maternal health, nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention will also be organised for villagers. The programme was attended by Susim Behera, Head – Operations & Maintenance; Mayank Patangiwar, Chief Commercial Officer, VLCTPP; and Anjana Kumar, Project Head, PHD Rural Development Foundation, New Delhi.
