NEW DELHI (India CSR): IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo, and InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, in collaboration with Sahapedia, hosted an enriching walk in Gwalior. This specially curated walk is part of the ongoing ‘My City My Heritage’ campaign, designed to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Indian cities. By reconnecting citizens with their roots, the campaign fosters a shared sense of pride and a long-term commitment to cultural preservation.
The thoughtfully curated walk themed “Gwalior’s Heritage at Maharaj Bada” offered participants a unique opportunity to delve into the city’s iconic central square, discovering its architectural grandeur, vibrant history, and deep cultural significance. Moving through landmarks, civic institutions, and marketplaces, the walk revealed how the iconic square emerged as a dynamic confluence of tradition, modernity, and community life. Led by Neelesh Ishwarchandra Karkare and Dr Ankit Agrawal, the event drew enthusiastic participation from the local community, government officials, and senior leadership of InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGo.
‘My City My Heritage’ is an ongoing campaign, dedicated to raising awareness about India’s diverse cultural and historical legacy. Through engaging dialogues and meaningful partnerships, the initiative aims to preserve and promote both tangible and intangible heritage, encouraging citizens to rediscover and take pride in the stories that shape their communities. A key highlight of the project is its series of immersive heritage walks, organized in partnership with IndiGoReach. Having already covered ten diverse cities including Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Nashik, Hyderabad, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahmedabad, and Puducherry, these walks invite citizens to reconnect with their local history and foster a deeper sense of belonging and appreciation for India’s multifaceted heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation, said, “India’s history is a living legacy, and through the ‘My City My Heritage’ campaign, we are committed to promoting the unique cultural identity of our cities. By showcasing these landmarks and engaging local citizens, we hope to inspire a sense of pride and collective responsibility, ensuring that our heritage remains a vibrant, cherished part of our future.”
Both InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach have undertaken various projects to promote heritage conservation and preservation in India. Key initiatives by InterGlobe Foundation include the conservation and cultural revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’s mausoleum in Delhi, the cultural mapping and documentation of ten cities, the restoration of the ‘Indra Kund’ stepwell in Delwara, the tile restoration of Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum, and Heritage Fellowships. Similarly, IndiGoReach has supported projects for the conservation of Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum at the Qutb Shahi Heritage Park in Hyderabad and the restoration of the Lal Bagh Palace interiors in Indore.
