UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta Group company and one of the world’s largest integrated producers of zinc, lead and silver, marked the 37th Road Safety Month and National Road Safety Week with a comprehensive series of awareness initiatives across all its business locations. The month-long observance reflected the company’s commitment to “Sadak Suraksha, Jeevan Raksha,” bringing together over thousands of employees, business partners, school children, drivers, and neighboring communities in a unified effort to promote responsible road behavior.
At various units, the campaign began with inaugural ceremonies led by senior leadership and district authorities, setting the tone for a safetydriven month. Simultaneously, various locations witnessed an enthusiastic bike rally flagged off in the presence of district officials, emphasising the importance of defensive and disciplined driving. This rally, attended by employees, business partners, and local authorities, served as a strong message on shared responsibility for safer roads.
Across Hindustan Zinc’s operational landscape, multiple teams rolled out structured activities designed to engage people at all levels. At Agucha, the focus remained on behavioural safety through ROKO–TOKO activities, blind-spot training for over 500 workers, and leadership engagement with business partners to strengthen compliance. Zawar reinforced road safety through a pledge, safety march, awareness drives at the Baroi site, and recognition of best drivers and operators. Dariba saw extensive outreach across locations: Sindesar Khurd Mine conducted training for business partner families, village awareness programs, vehicle inspections, ROKO–TOKO activities, HIV/AIDS and firefighting training, and introduced reflective neck straps for cattle, alongside a community-led session by a Vamman operator. Rajpura Dariba Mine organised walkathons, rallies, driver behaviour campaigns, handbook distribution, and helmet drives, while the Dariba Smelting Complex delivered school outreach with fire safety and CPR demonstrations and extended road safety awareness and helmet distribution to nearby villages.

At Chanderiya, road safety and defensive driving training for Hind Zinc School students and faculty was supported by interactive quizzes and recognition. Debari drove awareness through pamphlet distribution, bike rallies, ROKO–TOKO activities, VDSS model vehicle displays, and public engagement. Kayad Mine conducted student training, fire safety demonstrations, competitions, road safety audits, street plays, and distributed road safety manuals, strengthening community and workforce participation. Pantnagar led large-scale public initiatives, including a high-participation bike rally with police and RTO, eye and PUC camps, slogan competitions, ROKO–TOKO engagements, reflector distribution, and installation of reflectors at blind spots to improve safety in low-visibility conditions.
Through these collective efforts across mines, smelters, communities, schools, and public institutions, Hindustan Zinc reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a zeroharm culture. The observance of the 37th Road Safety Month not only strengthened internal safety practices but also enhanced public awareness, demonstrating the company’s belief that road safety is a shared responsibility and a critical pillar of community wellbeing. Hindustan Zinc continues to advance behaviour-based safety, responsible mobility, and community partnership across all its units, ensuring that safety awareness reaches every individual associated with the organization.
