UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, continues to anchor inclusive growth across Rajasthan through its community-centric initiatives. In FY25, the company’s social interventions positively impacted 23 lakh lives across 2,362 villages, with a total investment of Rs 273.45 crore, reinforcing its commitment to long-term, sustainable development in Rajasthan and beyond.

Rooted in the belief that resilient communities are central to responsible business, Hindustan Zinc’s strategy focuses on building self-reliance by strengthening livelihood, education, healthcare and water, community asset creation, women empowerment and sports. Over the year, 6.54 lakh women and children benefitted through the integrated programmes designed to deliver measurable outcomes.

At the heart of this approach is Samadhan, Hindustan Zinc’s flagship agri-livelihood initiative, which transformed rural economies by enabling farmers to move from subsistence agriculture to sustainable agri-entrepreneurship. Since its inception, over 1.4 Lakhs farmers were benefitted under the programme, with over Rs 192 crore income generated through diversified farm.

Complementing livelihood creation, Hindustan Zinc’s Zinc Kaushal programme strengthened employability among rural youth by aligning skills training with industry demand. Since inception, more than 9,500 youth have been trained across Rajasthan with industry-relevant training, backed by an investment of Rs 23 crore and achieving 49% female participation.

Hindustan Zinc also continued to harness the power of sport in social transformation through the Zinc Football Academy (ZFA). Built on a long-term, residential and education-integrated model, the AIFF-accredited 3-star academy provided structured professional coaching, academic support, and sports science to talented youth from rural and underserved communities. The initiative also marked a milestone with the inaugural batch of the country’s first-ever fully dedicated girls academy.

Women empowerment remained a cornerstone of Hindustan Zinc’s community development. The Sakhi initiative, which empowered over 25,000 women via 2,167 self-help groups, federations, village organisations, and MSMEs.

In education, Hindustan Zinc continued to focus on improving learning outcomes through Shiksha Sambal and Unchi Udaan. More than 35,000 students across 140 government schools benefitted during FY25 in Shikha Sambal programme.

The Unchi Udaan programme fuelled the engineering dreams of over 300 students to secure admission to premier institutions including IITs and government engineering colleges. 27 students were placed in top-tier organisations with an average annual salary of Rs 10 lakh in FY25. Further, inclusive education efforts under Jeevan Tarang supported 2,600+ children with disabilities.

Healthcare and water security initiatives benefitted 4.5 lakh people in FY25, with five Mobile Health Vans serving four districts of Rajasthan and one district of Uttarakhand. Safe drinking water access was provided to 36 villages through 60+ RO ATMs and 13 RO hubs.

Alongside other initiatives, Hindustan Zinc also invested in community infrastructure, benefitting 4.74 lakh people across 132 villages in FY25. Through the development, 34.36 km of rural roads, 19 km of water pipelines, and the installation of 1,731 streetlights was implemented across 68 villages.

Beyond programme-level outcomes, Hindustan Zinc’s integrated development approach is driving tangible transformation at the household level. One such story is of Indra Devi, who, despite being born into a marginalized community and facing the burden of child marriage, rebuilt her life through the company’s interventions. Through Sakhi, she achieved financial independence, while Samadhan enabled her to enhance farm productivity and livestock-based income. Her family also benefitted from healthcare services with Swasthya Sewa and received education support under Shiksha Sambal where her child completed his B.Ed degree. She was also able to access to clean drinking water and received childcare support for her family through Nand Ghar, collectively strengthening the quality of not just her’s life but also her family’s.

As Hindustan Zinc advances its journey of responsible growth, its strategy remains anchored in strengthening communities. Through flagship initiatives such as Samadhan, Zinc Kaushal, Sakhi, Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan, Jeevan Tarang, Zinc Football Academy, along with focused interventions in healthcare, water security, and infrastructure, the company continues to build a self-reliant community. By aligning social investment with local needs and long-term partnerships, Hindustan Zinc is not only addressing present challenges but also creating sustainable pathways of opportunity that contribute meaningfully to India’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’.
