UDAIPUR (India CSR): Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, and among the top five global silver producers, is celebrating World Quality Month with the theme “Think Differently”, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, data-driven decision-making, and operational excellence across its value chain.

Building on this focus, Hindustan Zinc’s product ‘Zinc base alloy ingots for Die Casting, Grade Zn Al 4’ has been granted approval by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to use the Standard Mark as per IS 713:198. This certification strengthens the product’s market credibility, regulatory compliance and customer confidence. This achievement further supports the company’s broader vision of delivering globally benchmarked, high-assurance products.

A highlight of this year’s Quality Month is the launch of the company’s Agile Quality Circle, an evolved model that moves beyond the traditional 12-step quality circle framework. This modern and flexible approach allows teams to choose the most effective combination of quality tools tailored to specific challenges. The structure is designed to:

  • Deepen employee ownership, engagement and critical thinking,
  • Accelerate decision-making and solution delivery, and
  • Harness diverse skills and creative problem solving across operations.

The Agile Quality Circle integrates seamlessly into Hindustan Zinc’s robust quality ecosystem built on seven foundational pillars – Supplier Quality Management, Customer Management, Integrated Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, Leadership Involvement, Skill Development and Results Mapping. Strengthening this ecosystem is Hindustan Zinc’s fully digital Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring end-to-end transparency, traceability and rigorous data accuracy across quality assurance workflows.

Speaking about the initiative, Arun Misra – CEO, Hindustan Zinc Limited, said:
Quality at Hindustan Zinc is rooted in a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement. With the theme ‘Think Differently’ and the introduction of Agile Quality Circles, we are encouraging our people to challenge traditional methods and innovate with confidence. Our recent BIS certification further reinforces the strength of our quality systems, enabling us to deliver world-class products while setting new benchmarks in operational excellence.”

As the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, Hindustan Zinc continues to set global benchmarks in product reliability, responsible sourcing, and sustainability. The company’s products are registered with the London Metal Exchange (LME) and London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), assuring global buyers of purity and consistency, including 99.99% pure silver. The company also holds REACH certification, enabling the export of its products across all 27 EU member states, and has earned EPD International verification for its extensive zinc portfolio, one of the largest in the world. With the launch of its low-carbon zinc brand, EcoZen, Hindustan Zinc reinforces its commitment to delivering high-quality, responsibly produced metals while advancing a more sustainable future for the industry.

Hindustan Zinc’s commitment to quality is reflected in its zinc, lead, and silver products, which consistently meet global standards. As the only Indian member of the prestigious ICMM, the company is part of a select group of global mining leaders committed to the highest standards of ethics, safety, and sustainable development. It upholds a strong compliance framework supported by ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (NABL) accreditation, and BIS certification across its product portfolio. Through these initiatives, Hindustan Zinc continues to strengthen its position as an industry leader in quality, innovation, and sustainable operations.
