Dubai to Host ‘I Am Peacekeeper Movement’ on Sept 4, Led by Wockhardt’s Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala
MUMBAI (India CSR): As Dubai prepares to host the global launch of the I Am Peacekeeper Movement on 4 September 2025, India CSR Editor Rusen Kumar spoke with Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Executive Director of Wockhardt, CEO of Wockhardt Foundation, and Founder of the movement. In this conversation, Dr. Khorakiwala shared his vision for peace, justice, and unity in a world increasingly marked by division and conflict.
Q: Dr. Khorakiwala, what inspired you to initiate the I Am Peacekeeper Movement?
Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala: The world is going through turbulent times — conflicts, inequalities, and divisions are creating uncertainty everywhere. I felt there was an urgent need for a platform that empowers individuals to recognize themselves as peacekeepers. The I Am Peacekeeper Movement is about turning compassion, equity, and justice into action. We want people not only to talk about peace but to embody it in their daily lives.
Q: Why was Dubai chosen for the global launch?
Dr. Khorakiwala: Dubai is a global hub that represents diversity, inclusivity, and cross-cultural exchange. It offers the perfect stage for the world to come together and send a message of hope. Launching the movement here also sets the tone for the upcoming Billionaires for Peace Conclave in February 2026, which will further amplify this vision on a global scale.
Q: The launch will feature several distinguished global guests. Could you tell us more about them?
Dr. Khorakiwala: We are honored to have seven eminent chief guests. Among them are Nobel Peace Laureates like Prof. Mohan Munasinghe and Ms. Ouided Hédi Bouchamaoui, as well as Dr. Asle Toje from the Norwegian Nobel Committee. We are also joined by respected leaders from the UAE, Indian policymakers like Temjen Imna Along, and international business leaders such as Dr. Siddeek Ahmed. Their presence symbolizes that peace is a shared responsibility across geographies and sectors.
Q: What are the key initiatives that the movement will unveil?
Dr. Khorakiwala: There are twelve initiatives. The main initiatives include expanding the I Am Peacekeeper Movement, which already has nearly two million supporters worldwide. They also involve launching the Peacekeeper Charter and hosting the Billionaires for Peace Conclave. We are also launching the IAPM International Directors Structure to ensure proper governance and global coordination.
Q: The Billionaires for Peace Conclave 2026 sounds ambitious. What is its vision?
Dr. Khorakiwala: Yes, it is ambitious — and it needs to be. The Conclave, scheduled for 1 February 2026, will bring together some of the world’s most influential philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. The idea is simple: channel the immense wealth and resources of billionaires towards structured peacebuilding and humanitarian action. We want to move from charity to systemic change. This platform will showcase commitments, launch partnerships, and create measurable impact strategies so that wealth becomes a true force for peace and equity.
Q: You mentioned two million advocates. How has the movement reached such scale?
Dr. Khorakiwala: Our strength lies in digital mobilization and grassroots collaborations. From online campaigns promoting human values to partnerships with humanitarian organizations, we’ve engaged people across continents. Education, dialogue, and relief activities during crises have also played a key role. People are drawn to the simplicity of the idea — peace starts with me.
Q: What impact do you hope the movement will have in the long term?
Dr. Khorakiwala: We hope to transform peace from being an abstract ideal into a lived practice. The goal is to inspire individuals to become peace agents in their communities, to strengthen justice, and to build inclusive societies. Our initiatives are designed to create lasting change by weaving peace into governance, business, education, and daily life. Peace is not only a goal; it is a shared responsibility.
Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with those who will witness the launch in Dubai?
Dr. Khorakiwala: I would say — join us in choosing peace. In a world divided by borders, ideologies, and conflicts, being a peacekeeper is a choice each one of us can make. Together, through compassion and collective effort, we can shape a more unified and harmonious world.
