‘Scaling New India’s Leap with Clean Energy Solutions’ highlights company’s innovation, impact and roadmap to Net Zero by 2040
NEW DELHI (India CSR)— Celebrating a decade and a half of transformative leadership in India’s renewable energy journey, ReNew Energy Global Plc (NASDAQ: RNW), the country’s leading decarbonization solutions provider, has released its second Annual Integrated Report for FY 2024-25 titled “Scaling New India’s Leap with Clean Energy Solutions: Innovating Sustainably.” The report encapsulates ReNew’s progress, innovation, and firm commitment to India’s Net Zero goals.
Sumant Sinha, Founder, Chairman and CEO, ReNew, in his message to stakeholders, emphasized, “India is in the middle of a once-in-a-generation clean energy leap, one that will define the world’s future. This year holds special significance as we celebrate ReNew’s 15th year. We are growing with purpose, guided by a long-term view that places sustainability at the core of value creation.”
Accelerating India’s Energy Transition
ReNew concluded FY 2024-25 with remarkable achievements, strengthening its position as a critical player in India’s renewable energy sector. The company’s operating capacity surged to 10.7 GW, driven by the highest ever capacity addition in a single year. The contracted portfolio reached 18.5 GW, covering solar, wind, hydro and hybrid projects, and included 1.1 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
ReNew generated over 22 billion units of clean electricity during the year — powering six million households and meeting nearly 2% of India’s electricity demand. The company added 1.9 GW of capacity and won 4.8 GW of new projects, including 800 MWh of BESS, securing a 14% market share in auctions participated.
With growing domestic manufacturing capability, ReNew’s solar plants in Jaipur and Dholera, with a combined module capacity of 6.4 GW and cell capacity of 2.5 GW, are now fully operational and contributing to profitability. In FY 2024-25, EBITDA margins improved and profit before tax rose 23% YoY, marking the second consecutive year of profitability.
Innovation and Firsts: FDRE and Utility-Scale BESS
ReNew continued to lead innovation in India’s clean energy space. It pioneered the country’s first utility-scale BESS system, executing a 150 MWh project in Karnataka. The company is also spearheading Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects — an innovative mix of solar, wind, and storage to deliver round-the-clock clean energy.
During the year, ReNew’s 1.3 GWp solar farm in Pokhran, Rajasthan — India’s largest single-location solar project — was inaugurated by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The plant used entirely India-made modules from ReNew’s own facilities, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ agendas.
Scaling Clean Energy for a Viksit Bharat
India’s economic trajectory requires scalable low-carbon energy solutions. With electricity demand projected to grow 6.3% annually and the economy aiming for 7-8% growth, ReNew believes clean energy is central to realizing a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. India added 33 GW of electricity capacity in FY 2024-25, nearly 90% from renewables.
However, to meet its 2030 target of 500 GW non-fossil fuel capacity, India needs an estimated $80–100 billion in annual investments. ReNew has called for stronger public-private collaboration, stable policy support, and innovative green finance mechanisms to unlock capital at scale.
In this context, Sumant Sinha noted, “The transition to clean energy is not only essential for the planet but a massive economic opportunity. India has the potential to be a global leader in renewable batteries and green hydrogen.”
ESG Leadership and Responsible Growth
ReNew was the first Indian electric utility to be featured in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook 2025, reflecting its robust ESG performance. The company’s governance framework integrates ESG metrics, zero-tolerance for corruption, and strong stakeholder transparency.
Its CSR efforts have transformed 1.7 million lives across 11 states and over 740 villages, with a goal to positively impact 2.5 million lives by 2030. Initiatives include healthcare, education, skilling, and women empowerment — aligned with national development goals.
A diverse and inclusive work environment remains core to ReNew’s growth. The company employs 4,600 people, with ~16% gender diversity, 40% board diversity, and 12% female representation in STEM roles. ReNew’s hydro plant in Uttarakhand became the first globally to receive the British Safety Council’s ‘Sword of Honour’.
Road Ahead: Doubling Portfolio, Expanding Impact
Looking forward, ReNew aims to double its operational capacity in the next five years and expand its global footprint. The company is actively investing in emerging technologies like green hydrogen, battery storage, and smart grids — ensuring future-ready energy solutions.
