Reality is never fixed. It is fluid, ever-changing, and shaped by possibilities. What we experience today was once a thought, an idea, or a dream.

Rusen Kumar Founder and Managing Editor India CSR

The world we live in is shaped by what we think is possible. The greatest achievements of humanity began with a single belief: It is possible. Every reality that we experience today was once a mere possibility. This concept forms the foundation of human progress, ambition, and innovation. The phrase “Reality is included in possibility” by Rusen Kumar carries deep philosophical, scientific, and practical significance. It suggests that everything we see, touch, and experience existed first as an idea, a vision, or a potential.

In this article, I will explore this idea in detail. Readers will understand the philosophical roots of “Reality is included in possibility”, its implications for human ambition, and its role in shaping the future. I will also discuss how embracing possibilities can transform reality and lead to growth.

The Nature of Possibility

Possibility is an abstract concept. It exists in the realm of thought, creativity, and foresight. Anything that is possible is not yet real but holds the potential to become real. The history of human civilization is filled with examples where possibilities turned into realities.

A few centuries ago, the idea of flying was impossible. Today, airplanes take us across the world in hours. Electricity, once a mysterious force, is now the lifeline of modern society. The internet, space travel, artificial intelligence—these were all mere possibilities before they became reality.

Possibility is like a vast ocean, and reality is the land that emerges from it. If we limit our imagination, we limit our reality. If we explore the vastness of possibility, we create new realities.

So, the next time you think about your dreams, remember—they are not just thoughts. They are real possibilities waiting to become reality. The future is not something we enter; it is something we create. And it all begins with the recognition that reality is included in possibility.

Reality as a Manifestation of Possibility

What we call reality is simply a selection of possibilities that have materialized. There are infinite possibilities, but only some take shape in the world we experience. This selection happens through human effort, natural laws, and circumstances.

A person who dreams of becoming a scientist sees a possibility. If they work toward it, acquire knowledge, and dedicate their life to science, the possibility becomes real. The same applies to businesses, nations, and societies. Every great movement, invention, or transformation started as a thought in someone’s mind.

A seed holds the possibility of a tree. It has all the necessary information coded within it. But only when it gets the right environment—soil, water, and sunlight—it becomes a tree. This principle applies to everything in life. Possibility exists in abundance, but reality takes shape based on conditions, effort, and time.

The Role of Belief in Shaping Reality

Our belief system plays a crucial role in deciding which possibilities become real. If we believe in something strongly and act upon it, we increase the chances of it becoming reality.

Many great leaders, inventors, and social reformers changed the world because they believed in the possibility of a better future. Mahatma Gandhi believed in a free India. His belief turned into a reality. The Wright brothers believed humans could fly. Their persistence made it happen.

On the other hand, if we reject possibilities and convince ourselves that something cannot be done, we close the doors to reality. The strength of belief is the bridge between what is possible and what becomes real.

Science and the Expansion of Reality

Science is the study of reality, but it also thrives on possibility. Every scientific discovery starts with a question: What if? Scientists explore possibilities and test them through experiments. When something is proven, it becomes reality.

Quantum mechanics suggests that multiple possibilities exist at the same time. It is only when an observation is made that reality takes a definite shape. This concept mirrors human potential. Many paths exist, but the one we choose becomes our reality.

Einstein’s theory of relativity was once a mere mathematical possibility. Today, it governs the way we understand time and space. Similarly, medical advancements that seemed impossible decades ago are now saving millions of lives. Science constantly pushes the boundaries of reality by exploring possibilities.

The Impact on Human Growth and Success

Individuals who recognize that reality is included in possibility achieve great success. They do not limit themselves to existing conditions. Instead, they see opportunities where others see obstacles.

A student who believes they can excel in a subject will work harder and perform better. An entrepreneur who sees potential in a new idea will take risks and create a successful business. A writer who imagines a great book will eventually write one.

Possibility fuels progress. The moment we stop believing in new possibilities, we stop growing. History has shown that people who embrace possibilities change their own lives and influence the world.

The Power of Imagination

Imagination is the tool that connects possibility and reality. Every great invention, piece of art, or groundbreaking idea began in the mind.

Writers imagine new worlds. Scientists visualize new theories. Engineers dream of better machines. Without imagination, reality would remain static.

Children live in a world of endless possibilities. They believe in magic, superheroes, and adventure. As they grow up, society often teaches them to be “realistic.” But true progress happens when we balance realism with imagination.

Challenges in Transforming Possibility into Reality

While every reality is included in possibility, not all possibilities become real. Several factors influence this transformation:

  1. Effort and Action – Without action, possibilities remain dreams. Hard work turns them into reality. Only those who take the necessary steps will see their visions materialize.
  2. Environment and Resources – External conditions, such as financial support, education, and social structures, play a significant role in determining which possibilities can be realized. Some ideas require resources that may not be available immediately but can be pursued over time.
  3. Persistence and Adaptability – Many possibilities face setbacks before they become reality. People who keep going despite failures and adjust their approach increase their chances of success. Adapting to changing circumstances ensures that an idea does not die due to temporary difficulties.
  4. Social Acceptance – Some possibilities take longer to become reality due to resistance from society. Radical ideas often face opposition before they are accepted. Innovations in science, politics, and social structures have all faced challenges before becoming mainstream.

Despite these challenges, history proves that possibilities do not disappear. They wait for the right moment, person, or society to bring them to life.

How to Expand Your Reality

To live a fulfilling life, one must actively explore possibilities. Here are some ways to do so:

  • Stay Curious: Question everything. Explore beyond what is known. Curiosity drives progress and uncovers new paths that lead to transformation.
  • Embrace Change: Accept that growth comes from challenging old beliefs. Change is necessary to break free from limitations and create new opportunities.
  • Take Risks: Fear of failure stops possibilities from becoming reality. Take bold steps, as breakthroughs come from pushing beyond comfort zones.
  • Learn Continuously: Knowledge expands vision. The more you learn, the more options you can see and act upon. Stay open to new ideas and perspectives.
  • Believe in Yourself: Self-doubt is the greatest barrier. Confidence in your abilities turns possibility into action, ensuring that you shape your desired reality.
  • Act with Purpose: Possibilities turn into reality only when pursued with consistent effort. Set clear goals and take deliberate steps toward them.
  • Surround Yourself with Visionaries: Being among those who challenge norms and push boundaries fosters inspiration. Collective vision accelerates the realization of possibilities.

Reality is never fixed. It is fluid, ever-changing, and shaped by possibilities. What we experience today was once a thought, an idea, or a dream. Recognizing that reality is included in possibility empowers us to shape our own lives and contribute to the progress of society.
