BENGALURU (INDIA CSR): Kotak Mahindra Bank (KMBL) has launched the third edition of its flagship CSR initiative, ‘Sehat Ka Safar,’ aimed at promoting the health and well-being of India’s commercial vehicle drivers. This year, the initiative has broadened its scope to 45 high-density transport hubs, up from 30 locations in the previous edition, with a goal to provide free health check-ups to around 4,000 truck drivers.

Commercial vehicle drivers are the backbone of India’s logistics sector, often navigating long hours on the road with little time to focus on their health. Kotak Mahindra Bank’s initiative steps in to fill this gap by offering essential health services and fostering a culture of well-being among this crucial workforce.

The Impact of ‘Sehat Ka Safar’

The health check-up camps will be held in key transport cities such as Duliajan, Durgapur, Patna, Delhi, Coimbatore, and Bhopal. These camps are designed to provide:

  • Free medical consultations with certified doctors and nursing staff.
  • Health screenings to detect early signs of lifestyle-related illnesses.
  • Counseling sessions on daily health practices and wellness routines.
  • Guidance on government welfare schemes designed for the driver community.

Each camp is supported by Doctors For You, a trusted name in healthcare services, ensuring professional care for all attendees.

Expanding Health Support

Speaking about the initiative, Amit Mohan, President – Logistics & Infrastructure at Kotak Mahindra Bank, emphasized the bank’s commitment:

“Commercial vehicle drivers put in long hours to keep our economy moving, often neglecting their own health. Through ‘Sehat Ka Safar,’ we’re giving back by providing them with the care and support they deserve. By expanding to 45 locations this year, we hope to make an even greater impact, empowering drivers to lead healthier, safer lives.”

A Proven Track Record of Positive Change

Since its inception in 2023, ‘Sehat Ka Safar’ has conducted over 60 medical camps and reached 6,000 drivers. The initiative’s ongoing expansion reflects its resounding success and Kotak Mahindra Bank’s unwavering focus on social impact.

Why It Matters

You might be wondering, “Why focus on commercial vehicle drivers?” The answer lies in the numbers. Research shows that prolonged working hours and irregular routines contribute to poor health among truck drivers, making health interventions essential.

A 2024 industry report noted that 65% of truck drivers in India suffer from chronic health issues such as hypertension and fatigue due to a lack of timely care. Initiatives like ‘Sehat Ka Safar’ ensure they receive preventive care, improving their quality of life.

A Collective Call for Support

Biswajeet Banerjee, Senior Program Coordinator at Doctors For You, added:

“Partnering with Kotak Mahindra Bank for ‘Sehat Ka Safar’ has allowed us to provide critical health support to a highly underserved community. The response from drivers has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing the need for ongoing initiatives like this.”

What’s Next

As the third edition of ‘Sehat Ka Safar’ rolls out, Kotak Mahindra Bank remains committed to expanding its impact and creating sustainable change. By reaching more cities and improving access to health services, the initiative sets a strong precedent for corporate social responsibility in the logistics sector.

Let’s dive into the future together. Share this story to spread awareness and support meaningful action for the unsung heroes of India’s transport sector.
