UTTAR PRADESH (India CSR): REC Limited, a Maharatna CPSE under the Ministry of Power and a leading non-banking financial company (NBFC), has announced a significant commitment to healthcare under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The company signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Sevarth Sansthan Seth Bimal Kumar Jain Trauma & Physiotherapy Dharmarth Samiti (SSB) to provide ₹14 crore for the procurement of a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine for advanced cancer treatment.

1 Enhancing Cancer Treatment with Advanced Technology

The LINAC machine will be installed at the Trauma Centre established by SSB in the Firozabad district of Uttar Pradesh. This cutting-edge technology enables precise and effective treatment of various cancers, including those affecting the brain, spine, head and neck, lung, breast, and more.

“Access to advanced medical equipment like the LINAC machine will revolutionize cancer care in Firozabad and nearby areas, making treatment more accessible to underserved communities,” said Shri Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Chairman and Managing Director of REC Limited.

2 A Step Toward Community Health and Well-Being

The agreement was formalized on 27th December 2024, with REC’s Executive Director (CSR), Shri Pradeep Fellows, and SSB President, Shri P.K. Jindal, signing the MoA. The ceremony was attended by senior officials and dignitaries, reflecting the importance of this collaboration in advancing healthcare infrastructure.

The initiative aligns with REC Limited’s commitment to promoting health and well-being in India. “REC is dedicated to nation-building by supporting impactful projects that address critical community needs, such as healthcare, education, and rural development,” added Shri Dewangan.

3 REC’s Legacy in Corporate Social Responsibility

REC Limited has been at the forefront of CSR initiatives, funding over 400 projects in diverse areas such as healthcare, sanitation, education, and environmental sustainability. The company has disbursed Rs 1,300 crore in CSR funds, with cumulative commitments exceeding ₹2,000 crore.

Previous healthcare projects supported by REC include:

  • Establishing medical facilities in rural areas.
  • Funding clean water and sanitation initiatives.
  • Supporting women’s health and empowerment programs.

“REC’s CSR projects are driven by the goal of creating a sustainable and inclusive future,” said a senior REC official.

4 LINAC: A Game-Changer in Cancer Treatment

The Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine is one of the most advanced tools in cancer treatment. It delivers high-energy X-rays or electrons directly to a tumor, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. LINAC is effective for treating complex cancers, such as those in the brain, spine, and liver, offering hope to thousands of patients.

“The installation of this advanced equipment will bring world-class cancer care to the region,” said Shri P.K. Jindal, President of SSB.

5 Commitment to Nation-Building

This project underscores REC’s dedication to improving healthcare access and infrastructure in underserved regions. By integrating advanced technology and fostering collaborations, REC continues to lead impactful CSR efforts across India.

“At REC, we believe in empowering communities by bridging gaps in critical sectors like healthcare. This initiative is another step toward ensuring a healthier future for all,” concluded Shri Pradeep Fellows, Executive Director (CSR), REC Limited.

6 You Learn – Building a Healthier Tomorrow

REC Limited’s Rs 14 crore investment in cancer treatment infrastructure reaffirms its role as a key contributor to India’s sustainable development. Through its focus on advanced healthcare solutions and inclusive growth, the company is shaping a future where quality medical care is accessible to everyone.
