NEW DELHI (India CSR): During the Rising Rajasthan Investor Meet held in New Delhi, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Ltd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Rajasthan. The agreement focuses on the development of 25 GW of renewable energy (RE) projects across the state.

A Major Step Towards Renewable Energy Expansion

The MoU was exchanged between Shri K S Sundaram, Director (Projects) at NGEL, and Shri Alok (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Government of Rajasthan. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Rajasthan’s Hon’ble Chief Minister, further underlining the state’s commitment to becoming a renewable energy hub.

Why Rajasthan is Key for Renewable Energy Growth

Rajasthan’s vast solar and wind potential makes it a prime location for large-scale renewable energy projects. With this 25 GW initiative, NGEL is poised to significantly contribute to India’s renewable energy targets, aligning with the national goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy capacity by 2030.

A Collaborative Effort for a Greener Future

This partnership also highlights the collaboration between the public and private sectors in pushing the envelope for sustainable energy solutions. Senior officials from both the Government of Rajasthan and NGEL were present at the event, signaling a shared vision for a greener, energy-independent future.

The MoU marks a monumental step in India’s transition to renewable energy, with Rajasthan leading the charge. This development is expected to not only reduce carbon emissions but also create employment opportunities and drive economic growth in the region.
