Your bridal lehenga took hours of concentrated effort to be picked. Before and after, several artisans spend hours, weeks, or months perfecting the bespoke creations. That said, the chances are high that the most important purchase of the bride’s life is stored in a suitcase or banished to the back of the closet after the wedding. This is rather sad as this sentimental piece of expensive clothing houses an important place in the bride’s life. Apart from the emotions, you can even reuse the same bridal outfit in different ways for your next festive events.

This is where bridal lehenga storage comes in place, as the way you preserve your precious clothing warrants its future form. Whether it is disheveled or intact, it all depends on the way you have stored it. Many brides shop for their bridal lehengas from high-end designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Sabyasachi, Seema Gujral, Anamika Khanna, Aza Fashions, and more. It is important to know about the aftercare of these luxury attire. Worry not as we have accumulated five lehenga storage tips just for you.

Read the Label

Before you start the process of cleaning and storing, make sure to read the label of your outfit. This will ensure that you know all the instructions about how to wash and dry it correctly. If your lehenga was custom-made you can ask your tailor about the details of the fabric quality. After this, you can research and make a cleaning place according to the said texture and quality. This step is necessary before storing your bridal lehenga to protect its original form.

Dry Clean ASAP!

After the wedding ceremony is over, the most important work is to dry clean your lehenga. Getting it professionally clean helps it retain its original form. As mentioned above please make sure to double-check the cleaning process before deciding anything. For instance, traditional dry-cleaning works for most ethnic wear, but when it comes to silk fabric with embellishments, the process can be dissembling. Also to be extra careful don’t shy away from asking the materials your dry cleaner will be using during the process.

Don’t Keep it in your Closet

Don’t Keep it in your Closet

One common habit most people have is to store their heavy traditional garments in the closet. While this may work for the normal ones when it comes to bridal lehenga storage, DO NOT KEEP them in your closet. Your fabrics need to breathe which entails that stuffy wardrobes can cause them distress. They will become vulnerable enough to lose their lustre and gain dust in the back of your closets.

Invest in a Good-Quality Box

Clothing as special as your wedding outfit cannot be kept in any box. A one-on-one bridal lehenga storage tip includes investing in a good quality box. You can shop for a box free from any acids. But when making the purchase ensure the size of the box and keep the length and breadth handy to make sure your garment has enough space to breathe.

Use Muslin Cloth

Use Muslin Cloth

Always store your bridal lehenga wrapped in a soft, clear muslin cloth. Here’s why it is necessary: it will protect the fabric from moisture and will prevent creasing of the cloth. This in turn protects the embroidery and embellishments on your outfit.

So, whether your designer lehengas are from Sabyasachi or Aza Fashions, these tips and tricks will help you protect your precious garments and memories adequately.
