Skilling Women for a Better Tomorrow

Empowering the Fishing Communities

The Skill Development Centre, located in Thirumalainagar, aims to train 240 women annually from the fishing communities of Lighthouse, Thangalperumbulam, Kottaikuppam, and Pulicat. The primary focus of this training is on the Self-employed Tailor (SET) program. This initiative is designed to equip women with the necessary skills to start their own tailoring businesses, providing them with a means to support their families financially.

Inauguration and Community Support

A Grand Opening Ceremony

The Skill Centre was inaugurated on July 11, 2024, in a ceremony attended by notable figures such as Durai Chandrasekar, MLA of Ponneri Constituency; Waghe Sanket Balwant IAS, Sub Collector of Ponneri, Tiruvallur District; and Capt. Madhanmohan, COO of Adani Kattupalli and Ennore Ports.

The event also saw the presence of traditional leaders, village panchayat presidents, councilors, ward members, and enthusiastic community members.

The Impact of the Skill Development Initiative

Past Achievements and Future Plans

The Adani Foundation has a commendable track record in skill development. To date, the Foundation has trained 750 students through its various programs, with an impressive 70% job placement rate. Building on this success, Adani Kattupalli Port plans to expand its skilling programs to include training in the auto sector, port operations, and finance and accounting in the coming years.

A Broad Reach and Significant Impact

The Adani Skill Development Centre has made a considerable impact nationwide, having provided skill training to over 150,000 students across 15 states. This widespread presence and experience underline the Foundation’s commitment to sustainable community development and economic empowerment.
