UAE has experienced a momentous transformation. Now, it is emerging as an international hub for business gradually. This corporate transformation covers the UAE’s tax landscape, when the Corporate Tax was introduced in June 2023. Corporate Tax UAE signifies a new way for businesses. It is important to note that taxable Persons must file Corporate Tax returns within 9 months from the end of a financial period. Also, a Taxable Person is mandatory to register for the Corporate Tax with the Federal Tax Authority. It must be in a specific format and within a timeline declared by the authority. What are the key areas of Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE?

The core and key areas of Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE are;

ü  Stay compliant with deadlines

The primary key area of Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE as per law is it is required for all business entities to register themselves within a specified. The noteworthy thing is that the deadline is based on their license issuance date. Failure to stay compliant within in timeframe may result in penalties and legal consequences.

ü  Tax Rate

The Corporate Tax UAE framework encourages a modest business environment. For taxable persons, the Corporate Tax UAE has a 9% tax rate. It is important to note that the exemptions for certain entities are also exists with a 0% if their taxable income is less than AED 375,000.

ü  Post registration obligations

Another key area of Corporate Tax UAE is post-registration obligations. Entities have to fulfill all ongoing compliance requirements. Such requirements help to prevent taxation in both the UAE and foreign jurisdictions. It includes;

  • Keep proper documentation for 7 years
  • Stay modernized with transfer pricing rules
  • Leverage double taxation agreements

What is the procedure for Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE?

The complete procedure for Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE is;

1. Get Tax Registration Number

The primary step of Corporate Tax Registration in the UAE is to get a Tax Registration Number. TRN is an exclusive number for the business. It is compulsory for all tax-associated businesses in the UAE. To get a Tax Registration Number, you have to visit the FTA website. You can access the form and fill it that accurately.

2. Gather required documents

The next step is gathering all the necessary documents such as;

  • Emirates ID or Passport copy of the Taxable Person or Authorized signatories
  • A copy of a legal trade license issued by applicable authorities in the UAE
  • Memorandum of Association (MoA)
  • Articles of Association (AoA)

3. Submit application

After gathering all the required documents, the next step is to submit your corporate tax registration application via FTA’s portal online along attached documents. Make sure that you fill all the required fields such as;

  • Activities
  • Turnover
  • Financial period
  • Special considerations

It is recommended to double-check all the required fields before submitting your application. It helps to avoid any interruption or problems later on when your application is under the approval process.

4. Review by the FTA for final approval

The approval by FTA would take some time to undergo a complete review to verify the information. It is crucial to respond immediately to any request issued by FTA for a hassle-free and smooth approval process.

5. File for Corporate Tax in your tax period

When the application is approved by FTA, you will be issued a Corporate Tax UAE registration certificate. It will confirm that your corporate tax registration is approved and your business is now officially registered. After getting the certificate, you will be subject to Corporate Tax UAE if turnover surpasses AED 375,000. It is recommended to get guidance from tax consultant in UAE such as Farahat & Co.
