RAIGARH (Chhattisgarh): An unexpected tragedy struck the JSW Naharlpali power plant when Sonu Yadav, a young truck driver from Khamhardih Dabhra, found himself in an unforeseeable and fatal situation.
JSW Naharpali, renowned for its power-producing capabilities, witnessed an event that has left its staff and the local community in shock. On Monday night, ash from the plant was in the process of being loaded into trucks by loaders. Amidst the ongoing operation, two trucks were stationed awaiting their turn for loading.
Sonu Yadav, operating the truck with the registration number 5504 from Kamakshi Transport, approached the loading point and began placing plastic inside his truck’s shed. This procedure, often done by drivers, is a method to facilitate faster unloading of materials, including ash.
However, the situation took a drastic turn when the loader operator, who had just completed loading the previous truck, moved towards Yadav’s truck. Without any intimation and presumably unaware of Yadav’s presence inside the shed, the operator began loading fly ash into truck number 5504. This grievous oversight led to Yadav getting buried under the weight of the fly ash inside his own vehicle.
The most distressing part of this tragic accident is that it went unnoticed for a considerable amount of time. No one on-site was immediately aware of the calamity that befell Yadav.
The incident raises pressing questions about safety protocols and practices at such loading points, and whether there are adequate measures in place to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future. Investigations are expected to follow to uncover the specifics of the event and to implement necessary changes in operational practices.
