An agronomist, geneticist, administrator, and humanitarian, Dr. Swaminathan’s myriad contributions were instrumental in catalyzing the Green Revolution in India. His relentless pursuit of agricultural innovation and food security significantly mitigated famine risks in India and Pakistan during the 1960s, earning him international acclaim and the revered title, the โFather of the Green Revolution in India.โ
