Maharashtra Tops the List with a Whopping Rs 3491.30 Crore in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Spending


NEW DELHI (India CSR): India, a country with a robust corporate sector, saw significant contributions in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) during the fiscal year 2021-22. The top 10 states accounted for a substantial part of these contributions, spearheaded by Pan India with a notable Rs 3491.30 crore in CSR spending, Govt. CSR Data revealed.

India, known for its flourishing corporate sector, has witnessed a considerable inflow of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding during the fiscal year 2021-22. Ten states stood out for receiving the lion’s share of these funds, reflecting a marked commitment to societal advancement and welfare.

Following closely was Maharashtra, which committed a commendable amount to CSR initiatives, demonstrating the strong commitment of its corporate sector towards social upliftment. The top 10 states in India for CSR expenditure for the financial year 2021-22, in decreasing order, are as follows:

These figures stand as a testament to the corporate sector’s pivotal role in complementing government efforts towards overall economic and social growth.

An essential feature of the report lies in the extensive footprint of these CSR initiatives. They have touched every corner of the nation, spreading across 40 States and Union Territories, thereby illuminating the pan-Indian influence of these activities.

Unprecedented Corporate Engagement in CSR Activities

In a historic stride for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the country, India’s Ministry of Corporate Affairs has unveiled its yearly CSR Expenditure Report for the financial year 2021-22. The report discloses the record-breaking participation of 18,623 corporations in CSR initiatives, reflecting India’s resolute dedication towards social welfare and sustainable progression.

Massive Surge in CSR Contributions

The businesses engaged in CSR initiatives have funneled an astounding sum of INR 25932.79 Cr. into CSR endeavours, indicating a sizeable upswing in expenditure devoted to social endeavours. The capital has been allocated to a total of 42,440 CSR schemes, an all-time high for the country, showcasing a fervent corporate response to the Companies Act, 2013 that obligates CSR involvement for certain types of companies.
