New Delhi: The rural areas of India often experience an inaccessible or distant when it comes to the basic healthcare facilities. According to a study, about 75% of Hospitals and Health Care facilities are focused in urban areas where only 25% of the Indian population lives. The majority of the population lives in rural areas and is deprived of basic healthcare necessities.

SBI Foundation in partnership with Akhil Bhartiya Gramin Uthan Samiti (ABGUS) has implemented “SBI Sanjeevani-Clinic on Wheels”, a mobile medical unit project initially in 20 remote villages of Tauru block in district Nuh, Haryana. The MMU is equipped with all basic & necessary facilities aiming to provide both preventive & curative health services along with diagnostic and referrals. The project has networked with the government “Community Health Centre, Tauru” to cater the need of IPD and critical healthcare services. The ABGUS-SBI Foundation’s project of MMU will also organize specialized health and awareness camps in these remote villages on a regular basis.

Speaking about this initiative, Smt. Manjula Kalayansundaram, Managing Director of State Bank of India Foundation, shared “Providing healthcare has been one of the key focus areas of SBI Foundation CSR strategy and we believe that through our SBI Sanjeevani initiative, we will be able to help in improving the quality of life of communities in the remote villages of Tauru block. The initiative will not only provide primary healthcare services at the doorstep but also create awareness and improve the hygiene practices in these areas, through special drives and camps.”
