Ghaziabad, December 25, 2021: With an aim to add momentum to the dissemination of knowledge around COVID-19 in the community, and encourage citizens to take the vaccine, Tata Steel has launched a community awareness campaign around its Sahibabad plant, located in the Ghaziabad district of UP. This will be implemented in association with the NGO partner, United Way Delhi.
Two mobile awareness vehicles, the ‘COVID Jagrukta Raths’, were flagged off today from the Sahibabad plant by Jayanta Banerjee, Group Chief Information Officer, Tata Steel, Mukesh Kumar, Executive Plant Head, Tata Steel Sahibabad, and representatives from United Way Delhi.
The vehicle will display innovative messages on COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, while urging people to vaccinate themselves. It will also play an exciting audio jingle in the local dialect, to ensure wide assimilation of the message.
Mukesh Kumar, Executive Plant Head, Tata Steel Sahibabad, said: “In the current times when the world is witnessing the surge of new variant, reinforcing the COVID appropriate behaviour is extremely important. As a responsible corporate, we are happy to partner with United Way Delhi to help sensitise the community on this subject.”
On the initiative, Sachin Golwalkar, CEO, United Way Delhi, said: “As the pandemic continues to pose a threat, it is more important than ever to ensure that the eligible age group is vaccinated. This campaign endeavours to encourage more people to come under the vaccination coverage.”
The vehicles will move on designated routes in select areas of Ghaziabad. The initiative is a part of the larger ‘Integrated Development Through Innovative Approaches’ (IDIA) project of Tata Steel, Sahibabad, one that aims at the holistic development of the community through dedicated interventions in Government-run schools and ‘Chetna’, the Youth Resource Centres.
