Lenskart launches ‘Drishti Ki Daud – Run for Vision’, linking participants’ steps to prescription-glasses donations through Lenskart Foundation.
NEW DELHI (India CSR®): Peyush Bansal, CEO and Founder of Lenskart, has highlighted a major gap in eye-care access in India, stating that 65% of Indians do not have access to vision correction. In a recently shared Instagram video, Bansal called for greater awareness and accessibility so that poor vision does not limit people’s safety, education and life opportunities. The message accompanies Lenskart’s ‘Drishti Ki Daud – Run for Vision’, a nationwide virtual run organised around Independence Day on August 15 and 16. The initiative seeks to encourage people to take steps for their own health while enabling clearer vision for people who need prescription eyewear.
Linking Everyday Steps to Clearer Vision
Under the initiative, participants can complete steps through the Lenskart app. Based on the number of steps achieved, Lenskart will donate up to four pairs of prescription glasses. The donations will be made through the Lenskart Foundation. The campaign creates a direct connection between physical activity and social impact. It invites users to turn a simple daily habit—walking—into support for people who may otherwise remain without access to essential vision correction.
Vision Care Is More Than an Eye-Care Issue
Bansal underlined that uncorrected vision can affect many parts of an individual’s life. Poor vision can create risks on roads, reduce classroom participation and contribute to school dropouts. It can also restrict a person’s ability to work, learn and participate confidently in everyday life. For many families, especially in underserved communities, an eye test or a pair of prescription glasses may not be easily accessible. This makes vision care not merely a health concern, but also an issue connected with education, mobility, safety and economic opportunity. “Clear vision should not be a privilege,” is the larger message reflected in the campaign’s focus on expanding access to corrective eyewear.
A Call for Wider Awareness
Lenskart’s campaign draws attention to the importance of regular eye examinations and timely correction of refractive errors. Many people continue to live with blurred vision because they do not recognise the problem, delay an eye check-up or lack access to affordable solutions. By placing the issue in the public conversation, Bansal has urged people to see vision correction as a basic need. The campaign also highlights how a pair of prescription glasses can make a meaningful difference in a child’s learning journey, an adult’s livelihood and an individual’s road safety.
Drishti Ki Daud and the Role of Lenskart Foundation
Through the Lenskart Foundation, the company has positioned ‘Drishti Ki Daud’ as an initiative combining community participation with vision-care support. Participants do not need to be professional runners; every step logged on the Lenskart app can contribute towards the campaign’s purpose. The programme reflects a broader effort to make preventive eye care and prescription eyewear more visible, accessible and socially relevant. As India continues to address gaps in public health access, initiatives that encourage eye screening and corrective solutions can help bring attention to an often-overlooked need.
