GURGAON: TCI Foundation has been awarded Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award by ABP News in the category of Concern for Health at a ceremony in Hotel Taj at Mumbai coinciding with the World CSR Day being celebrated every year on February 17. TCI Foundation was the sole winner in this category.
The Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Awards recognize outstanding achievements in economic, environmental and social dimensions by identifying and rewarding exemplary organizations in various aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility.
D.P. Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Transport Corporation of India Limited described the award as a recognition of TCI Foundation’s unrelenting commitment to the community welfare through innovative intervention. “Our Foundation is specifically aimed at HIV/AIDS control among long distance truckers, and we see such felicitations and awards as encouraging statements from the society”.
“The Award will further revitalize our energies to work for “Concern for Health”, he added.
TCI Foundation under the headship of Dr. Munish Chander was commended for its work in the field of HIV/AIDS control amongst long distance truckers with special reference to one of its outstanding healthcare project KAVACH. The project was launched by TCI Foundation in alliance with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2003 for its implementation across the country. Lately, the project was integrated by the Government of India in its National AIDS Control Program.
TCI Foundation currently works for HIV/AIDS control at 24 locations in association with government, PSUs and Corporates in 12 States of India and rendered HIV prevention and control services to more than 7.5 million truckers across the country. Notably, the award was received by Dr. Munish Chander, Head of TCI Foundation.
