5th Blue Dart World CSR Day aims towards global sustainability

MUMBAI: Blue Dart Express Limited, South Asia’s premier courier and integrated express package distribution Company presented the 5th Blue Dart World CSR Day and Blue Dart Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards at Taj Lands End, Mumbai on 18th February 2016. The awards recognized organizations that best demonstrate leadership and commitment towards bringing a change across different businesses. The awardees were felicitated by Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General & CEO, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, Yogesh Dhingra, COO & CFO, Blue Dart and Belinda Tan, Head of Corporate Communications and Responsibility, Asia Pacific & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa, DHL.

This year’s edition of Blue Dart’s World CSR Day was centred on the theme ‘What Next’ and covered topics like Sustainable and Responsible Business, Inclusive Development, Corporate Governance and Emerging Paradigms of CSR. The event was inaugurated by Ramon Magsaysay Award Winner Padmashree Dr. Prakash Baba Amte.

The panel discussions were stimulating and inspiring with latest developments and emerging issues, along with trends and innovative practices in the field of CSR and sustainability discussed. The sessions saw participation from leading organizations committed to driving better sustainability practices which included Magic Bus, Teach For India, Lockheed Martin, Capgemini, Essar Infrastructure Zimbabwe Pvt Ltd, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, Frost and Sullivan, Johnson & Johnson, Renault, Sanofi and several others.

Speaking at the event, Ketan Kulkarni, Senior Vice President & Head – Marketing, Corporate Communications and Sustainability, Blue Dart said, “In recent years, CSR has gained unprecedented importance and has become imperious for any company to make strategic decisions on the subject. Blue Dart has always worked towards creating a platform that helps in connecting people from different background thereby playing an important role in building a sustainable future for the generations to come. We believe that the most powerful way in which a business can make an impact is through an evolved business model, called the ‘shared value’ proposition.”

The day ended with the 5th Blue Dart Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards which recognized contribution across various categories in corporate social responsibility.
