MUMBAI: Iirst of its Kind Conference on “Driving Business through CSR Innovations” in India organized by the Astute forums a subsidiary of AdiAki consultants at Hotel Orchid in Mumbai, held last week (7th -8th February 2013). The conference was a resounding success and participants tackled topics ranging from Ideas for effective sustainability and CSR strategies that will win new business to Untangling the relationship between corporate social and financial performance. Over 35 participants discussed the need for building sustainable business through CSR and the road ahead.
The conference has been appreciated and applauded for its unique content an remarkable panel of speakers. The conference was attended by leading corporate houses such as Godfrey Phillips, Maruti Suzuki, Cipla, Sanofi, Ultratech, and Jindal are few organizations. Hemchandra Tewari, Sr.CSR Manager of Maruti Suzuki said this conference was “A good opportunity to learn from various experiences and experts”. Also Ms. Vaishali De and ms. Tushara Shankar quoted “A good show” of Godfrey Phillips.
The conference was opened by Dr. Pragnya Ram of Executive Director, Corporate Communications and CSR with Aditya Birla Group, with a case study on their group. Followed by Mr. Alok Goel, CEO of the Indian Center for CSR speaking upon Facilitating Govt. Initiatives, this provided a broader picture on governments vision on CSR.
The conference also witnessed the launch of the book on White Ocean Strategy written by Mr. Danai Chanchaichao and the first copy was presented to Dr. Pragnya Ram, Executive Director, Corporate Communications and CSR with Aditya Birla Group and the director of AdiAki Consultants Mr.Vikram Singh.
Senior practioners like Col.Prakash Tewari of Jindal Steel and Power, Mr. Sudhir Sinha of Cipla and Mr. Venkat Rolla of RPG group shared their experience and thoughts to the benefit of the delegates.

The conference discussed a variety of topics from Govt. Initiatives to Role of Social media in CSR, from Cause Marketing to Integrating CSR in business strategies to increase value proposition. This provided a greater insight on CSR vs. Charity though the debate still remains open.
