JHARSUGUDA: As a part of its continuing effort to promote and inculcate safety consciousness among the plant personnel, 42nd National Safety week was observed from 26 February to 4 March here at Vedanta Aluminum Jharsuguda Plant. This year’s National Safety Day theme was “Work Together to Ensure Safe & Healthy Work Place.”
On 4 March, in the concluding day of this week-long celebration, Mr.ChittaranjanBeura, Assistant Director of Factories & Boiler, Jharsuguda Division graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the function.
Mr. Abhijit Pati, COO-VAL; Mr. DK Singh, Head HSE; Dr. Rajeev Nayan, Head HR and all the Plant Heads were present in the occasion along with other Vedanta officials and workers of the Partner agencies. At the onset of the event, Mr. Pati hoisted the Safety Flag. Thereafter, safety badges were distributed and a safety pledge was administered.
Mr. DK Singh rendered the welcome speech and highlighted the various safety measures practised in the plant premises last year. Addressing the gathering, Mr Beura, stressed on the necessity of inculcating safety culture and practices in the plant premises. He advised everyone to ‘Go for Safety’ prior to do any in-plant assignment. Mr. Pati also quoted that safety is not only the Management’s responsibility; it is the responsibility of every individual. Everyone has a right to work in a safe and secure working condition. ‘Safety first and production next’ should be practised sincerely. Any violation in the safety practices will not be let off, he cited.”
Later in the programme, prizes were given away to the winners of the competitions held earlier in the week-long celebration. School Children from peripheral areas, Families of the VAL employees and the workers of the Partner agencies were also awarded during the occasion. A Safety rally was also organised in the Plant premises where more than thousand workers participated to spread awareness on Safety amongst plant personnel.
