MUMBAI: Noted social worker and CEO – Wockhardt Foundation, Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, was awarded with “The Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award” on the May 21, 2013, at New Delhi, marking the Death Anniversary of Former Prime Minister, Shri Rajiv Gandhi.
The Award was given by Governor of Uttarakhand, Aziz Qureshi. Every year on this date, The Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Foundation awards prominent and upcoming citizens who have played a prominent role in economic and social development of the country. Past awardees includes Delhi CM Smt. Sheila Dikshit.
Dr. Khorakiwala on being recognized says – “An Award is a recognition of the work. The work of our Warriors towards the upliftment of the poor, weak, and needy especially in the rural parts of India is the reason for this Award. I dedicate this Award to the Warriors of Wockhardt Foundation for their tireless and selfless work in improving the quality of life of the underprivileged.”
Wockhardt Foundation is a national, secular, not-for-profit organisation engaged in social service and human welfare activities. It’s 16 programs have made perceptible change in its areas of operations to the lives of the underprivileged.
It’s other programs like Mobile 1000 eye, Mobile 1000 urban, Mobile Health Vans rural, HIV/AIDS (WHARF), SHUDHU water purification tablets, Little Hearts and Dr-Health have made significant impact.
With the launch of 4 new programs, POSHAK malnutrition supplement, Swasthya Jaanch, JAL-Secure, and Bio-Toilet, Wockhardt Foundation continues to expand its social coverage in areas where the need is the most.
