Wienerberger India planted saplings at their factory premises in Kunigal, 70kms from Bangalore, to celebrate World Environment Day. This initiative was taken to encourage employees to give back and connect with nature. The company also distributed plants among its employees to encourage them to spread the cause beyond the factory premises to their homes and surroundings.
Wienerberger, the world’s largest clay building material manufacturer, has put environment protection and sustainability a priority which embodies the core culture of the organization. Being global thought leaders in green building technology, the company celebrates World Environment Day across 30 countries.
This year, as always, the company’s Indian subsidiary, Wienerberger India, celebrated World Environment Day by planting saplings across its thirty acres of manufacturing unit in Kunigal, Karnataka.
The factory which is a state-of-the-art production facility, manufacturing over 450 tonnes of clay hollow blocks a day, is surrounded by lush greenery and landscape garden, making it impossible for an outsider to even guess that facility’s primary purpose is to produce bricks. Wienerberger employees planted 60 saplings this Environment Day.
The planting of saplings by all the senior management members was followed by a potted plant distribution to all Wienerberger India’s staff and employees. Instilling the importance of nurturing the environment is one of the key messaging of Wienerberger.
