WEST BOKARO: On the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity, Tata Steel felicitated two persons from peripheral villages with ‘Prakriti Mitra’ (Friends of Nature) award for their exceptional contribution towards preserving and promoting biodiversity in the region. It was held at the West Bokaro auditorium on May 22, 2017.
Reinforcing Tata Steel’s commitment towards conservation, enhancement and restoration of biodiversity, Sanjay Kumar Singh, General Manager (Coal) said, “The ecosystem is interlinked and if one species in the food web ceases to exist, one or more members in the rest of the chain cease to exist too. To preserve and promote biodiversity in the region, we have chalked out a detailed plan to develop three parks which will include a butterfly and a reptile park as well.”
“As an initiative towards achieving the National Biodiversity targets, we are reaching out to local communities for strengthening and protecting the biodiversity.” he said.
“Aimed at sensitising employees, communities and students about the importance of preserving and protecting biodiversity, West Bokaro Division organised a beeline of events at West Bokaro including photography and slogan contest among employees and a drawing competition for School children on biodiversity.”, Tata Steel said.
