JAMSHEDPUR: Tata Steel has been committed to the cause of a healthy society. In an endeavor to further this cause, Tata Steel took another step in this direction and provided financial assistance of Rs 35 Lacs to the Family planning Association of India (FPAI), Singhbhum branch, Jamshedpur to provide Institutional delivery service at FPAI Clinic and hospital atGamharia, Jamshedpur by upgrading Operation Theatre and procuring stretcher lifts and other equipment etc.
At a function organised today in Tata Steel’s General office, Mr. Sunil Bhaskaran, Dy. VP, Corporate Services, Tata Steel handed over the cheque to Mrs. SurekhaNerurkar, President, FPAI, Singhbhum branch. Speaking on the occasion, MrBhaskaran said “Tata Steel is committed to the noble cause of a healthy society and shall always come forward to help such initiatives.” Mrs. Nerurkar on behalf of FPAI thanked Tata Steel for this great gesture. Senior Executives from Tata Steel, FPAI officials and hospital staffs were present on the occasion.
Tata Steel, in the past, has provided financial support to establish the FPAI clinic and hospital in Gamharia. The Medical and Diagnostic center (RHFPC) at Gamharia became operational from December 2010. The center currently has out Patient Department, facilities for Laparoscopic Operations, Non scalpel Vasectomy, Obstetric Care, Pathology, Ultrasound unit, Counseling, and a 32-bed hospital.
Family Planning Association of India is a non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making Non-Governmental organization with registration No. 3108 of 1854-1856 under Society Registration Act- XXI of 1860. FPA India has a national coverage through its 40 branches and 6 projects spread all over India. FPA India-Singhbhum branch is amongst one of the 40 branches. FPA India – Singhbhum branch was established in 2000 in Saraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand with an objective of comprehensive development especially in the area of reproductive health and woman empowerment.
