ODISHA : Bringing joys to 196 school and college students of Rangeilunda and Chhatrapur blocks of Ganjam district, Jyoti Fellowship 2015 – a onetime financial assistance, was provided to them by Tata Steel. At a special ceremony organized at Jubilee Town Hall, Berhampur, recently. The fellowship was given to the SC and ST meritorious students from around 53 schools and 6 colleges.
Along with cash awards, the top 10 students were also provided with a wrist watch and a tablet PC, while the rest students were provided with scholarship amount, making the total scholarship amount around Rs. 15 lac. With an objective of providing genuine handhold support to meritorious SC and ST students belonging to economically weaker section, the Tribal Cultural Society of Tata Steel in collaboration with its rural development wing Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) has been providing Jyoti Fellowships in and around Tata Steel projects and operations.
The event was graced by Shri. Sidhant Mohapatra, Honb’le MP, Berhampur as Chief Guest in the esteemed presence of Mr. Arun Misra, Vice President, Gopalpur Project & MD, Tata Steel SEZ and Mr. Niranjan Mishra, Principal, J N Tata Technical Education Centre, Gopalpur. Senior Tata Steel officials including Mr Sushant Mishra, Chief, Gopalpur Project and SEZ; Mr. Biren Ramesh Buta, Chief, CSR; Mr C Thomas, Chief, Security; Mr. Biraja Prasanna Mishra, Head, Administration; Mr R K Singh, Head, R & R; Mr. Reba Shankar Mohapatra, Sr. Manager, Land & Lease and Mr Satya Narayan Nanda, Unit Head, TSRDS, teachers and students were present in large numbers.
While complimenting the students on receiving such an acclaimed fellowship, Shri. Sidhant Mohapatra inspired them to achieve laurels in their future endeavours for the state and the country as well. “It is worth mentioning that this noble initiative ‘Jyoti Fellowship’ started in 2010 with only 22 students and now it has come all the way to 196 in 2015” added Mr. Mohapatra.
While briefing the young achievers, Mr. Arun Misra, VP, Gopalpur Project and MD, Tata Steel SEZ reiterated to students that ” the scholarship money should be used in the best possible way and never think you have come from a small school.With dedication and effort, you can reach new heights and bring laurels for Gopalpur”.
