CHENNAI (India CSR): The much-anticipated Third Edition of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Sustainability Awards, a prestigious event organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), unfolded on June 23, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Chennai. The event spotlighted corporations for their commendable CSR initiatives and positive societal impact.
A Distinguished Gathering
The awards were graced by two eminent figures of the Tamil Nadu state government, Thiru Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, the Minister for School Education, and Thiru Meyyanathan Siva V, the Environment Minister.
Also present were distinguished personalities from the industry, including Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Chairman of the ASSOCHAM Tamil Nadu Development Council; T R Parasuraman, Council Chairman and Executive Advisor of Toyota Group, Toyota Kirloskar Motors Pvt Ltd; and Abhishek Ranjan, Chairman of the ASSOCHAM CSR and Sustainability Committee.
Generous Contributions towards Education
Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi proudly announced that the Namma School Foundation had received a whopping donation of Rs 68.48 crores from corporations and philanthropists, aimed at improving the infrastructure facilities in government schools.
Tackling Climate Change
In his keynote speech, Environment Minister Meyyanathan outlined the measures that the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister MK Stalin, had undertaken to address climate change, focusing on the 14 coastal districts and other vulnerable regions in the state.

Honoring the Champions of Social Impact
The distinguished list of ASSOCHAM Social Impact Leader awardees included CA Arvind Salampuria, C M Reddy, Peter Yorke, Rusen Kumar, and Sanjay Padode.
Celebrating Excellence in CSR & Sustainability
The award ceremony celebrated corporate leaders who have shown an unwavering commitment to CSR and sustainability in various domains. The winners included Inhana Organic Foundation for their work in Climate Change Mitigation, Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited for Water Conservation, Epsilon for Energy Management, and Brillio for Employee Volunteering.
In other categories, NTT Data bagged the award for Diversity and Inclusion, CGI for Waste Management, and IFPRI for their efforts in Eliminating Hunger & Poverty. The Anudip Foundation was honoured for providing livelihoods to the local community, while IIT Madras excelled in the domain of Education and Skills. For their outstanding support to healthcare, Honeywell was the recipient of the award.
The event served as a milestone in recognizing and encouraging the symbiotic relationship between the corporate sector and societal development, pushing forward the agenda of sustainable and inclusive growth.
