Bangalore (India CSR): Narsapura plant of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India reduced its CO2 emissions by 20534 tons and saved 19401 KL water per annum by the process of recycling and reuse, the company said.
Honda has a vision and a deep desire to achieve carbon neutrality for all products and corporate activities by 2050.
The manufacturing plant has also saved around 9458 MWh of electricity and 906 tons of propane per year.
The Narsapura plant meets 100% of its water requirement through rainwater collection and utilization. The factory also meets 94% of its energy requirement from Renewable energy sources, the company added.
The manufacturing plant in Narsapura (Karnataka) is recognised with the prestigious GreenCo Platinum Plus rating by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for its sustainable environment excellence.
Not only in India, but Honda’s production facilities across the world also pursue energy-efficient methods actively and prevent water pollution by reducing industrial waste, the company said.
Narsapura plant was the first Honda 2Wheelers India factory to be Platinum rated through the GreenCo rating system in 2018.
Besides the Narsapura plant, Honda 2Wheelers India’s other manufacturing facilities located in Manesar (Haryana), Tapukara (Rajasthan) and Vithalapur (Gujarat) have also taken proactive initiatives to integrate environmental best practices and have been awarded with prestigious awards by renowned organisations, the company informed.
