JHARSUGUDA: A week long Road safety awareness campaign to promote and inculcate road-safety consciousness among drivers, helpers, labourers, plant personnel and the community members at large concluded at Sesa Sterlite limited, Jharsuguda on 7 January 2014., Company said in a statement.
The event on 1 January 2014 was inaugurated by Mr. Abhijit Pati, President & COO in presence of plant personnel and the employees of associate partners. On the concluding day, Mr. Bibhuti Bhusan Behera, ADM Jharsuguda graced the occasion as the chief guest and awarded the winners in various competitions held earlier. During the programme, more than 300 truck drivers were trained by IRTE. Through a CSR campaign, apparently 500 school children from the periphery schools were also trained by the same expert agency. Pamphlet distribution through ‘Sadak Surakshya Rath’ was also organised wherein 10 peripheral villages were covered.
Documentaries related to ‘Road safety measures’ and ‘Driving discipline and habits’ were screened and safety educational skits (Drama) were performed by the partner agencies. While addressing to the gathering, Mr. Pati stressed the need to observe and practise safety norms with the fullest heart. Head HSE Mr. D K Singh reiterated company’s commitment towards making the Plant premises a “zero harm” zone.
