Members from the Self-help group formed under the project Unnati from Savli GIDC bags a bumper order of making 1.2 lakh rakhis worth around Rs. 65,000 from Ahmedabad-based whole seller.
Project Unnati is an initiative by ARCH Foundation supported by Voltamp Transformers Pvt. Ltd. focusing on financial inclusion. As one of the program’s major components, 150 plus women are organized and trained by ARCH Foundation.
This is not the first time SHG members have picked off a great deal; last August, they had a massive order for 30,000 rakhis. Elated and encouraged by the response from last year, the women wagon is again ready to hit the market with their much-in-demand rakhis.
Experts have trained women under the Unnati project in making creative, high-quality, and eco–friendly rakhis. Later the SHG was also facilitated with backward and forward linkages to attain a sustainable revenue model. Women have also been upskilled with training in financial and digital literacy.
Under the overarching goal of attaining SDG-5 through poverty alleviation and uplifting their standard of living, ARCH Foundation works on multiple interventions and a holistic approach to serve the women in need and deliver sustainable outcomes.
Through its community-based programs, the ARCH Foundation has adopted a lifecycle approach wherein these women from all sects stand a chance to gain from the interventions being rolled out in their area. ARCH has brought a meaningful transformation in these women’s lives by generating awareness about menstrual healthcare, vocational training, and economic growth through life skills and financial inclusion programs.
In addition, ARCH is also raising awareness against social ills like child marriage, dowry, alcoholism, oppression, and improving their confidence and self-esteem. Mainstreaming women through inclusive initiatives and reducing gender discrimination in various walks of life shall be the drivers to change the status of women in society.
