SBI General Insurance, a leading general insurance company in India initiated “Meri Policy Mere Haath” program to support Indian farmers and encourage them to opt for comprehensive risk protection solutions. This campaign’s aim is to offer a financial safety net to the Indian farming community by educating them about the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and distributing physical copies of crop insurance policies at the farmer’s doorstep.
Crop Insurance Policy Distribution Drive
SBI General Insurance has initiated a massive PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) Policy Distribution Drive called “Meri Policy Mere Haath.” The initiative aims to distribute physical copies of crop insurance policies to farmers in Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, and Karnataka during the upcoming Rabi season. The drive is part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign to support Indian farmers.
Financial Assistance to Farmers
The “Meri Policy Mere Haath” campaign aims to reach out to every farmer across the country who is covered under the PMFBY scheme. The goal is to provide physical copies of the crop insurance policies and educate farmers about the terms and conditions, benefits, and their rights and obligations under the scheme. The policy will provide financial assistance in the event of crop loss or damage due to natural disasters.
Doorstep Policy Distribution
Under the “Meri Policy Mere Haath” campaign, SBI General will distribute physical copies of the crop insurance policies to farmers who are enrolled in the PMFBY scheme. The distribution will take place through special camps called Kisan Melas held at the gram panchayat/village level. The policy will include information such as a toll-free number and the company website details to assist farmers in filing claims. SBI General will also distribute a copy of the PMFBY FAQs and other collaterals in the regional language to better assist farmers under the scheme.

He emphasized the importance of Indian farmers opting for the unique crop insurance scheme that can reduce the financial burden on the farmer arising out of natural calamities resulting in crop losses. He further stated that SBI General will continue to empower farmers by imparting adequate knowledge about comprehensive risk protection solutions and offering the right insurance solution that is accessible and affordable.
Amplification and Participation of the Campaign
The “Meri Policy Mere Haath” campaign will be amplified through various mediums such as SMS activity, social media, and farmer camps (Kisan Melas) to further educate farmers about the policy. The campaign will witness participation from various stakeholders such as state governments, financial institutions, insurance corporations, and Common Service Centers (CSC) – Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLE) coming together to provide a financial safety net to Indian farmers.
