Retaining its position as India’s largest taxpayer, Reliance contributes Rs. 1,77,173 crore in 2022-23, and sets new employment records.

NEW DELHI (India CSR): Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), one of the world’s leading companies, has once again established itself as a crucial pillar of the Indian economy. The company, spearheaded by a vision of long-term value creation for stakeholders and an embedded duty of care, continued to be India’s largest taxpayer in the fiscal year 2022-23.

Reliance’s Unwavering Contribution

In its enduring commitment towards bolstering India’s economic growth, RIL contributed a colossal Rs. 1,77,173 crore to the national exchequer in 2022-23 by way of various direct and indirect taxes. This accomplishment follows a remarkable streak, as the company also contributed Rs. 1,88,012 crore and Rs. 1,35,468 crore in the years 2021-22 and 2020-21, respectively.

The company’s contributions have been particularly impactful in the realm of customs and excise duties, solidifying its position as the leading contributor in the private sector.

Reliance’s Milestone Revenues

Adding another feather to its cap, Reliance became the first Indian corporate to cross the significant threshold of $100 billion in annual revenues. This milestone reflects the company’s successful strategies and resilience amid global economic challenges.

The Employment Powerhouse

In addition to its fiscal contributions, Reliance has made significant strides in job creation. With an addition of 2,62,558 jobs across various businesses, the company set new records for employment in the fiscal year 2022-23. Reliance Retail is notably one of the largest employers in the country, boasting 2,45,581 on-roll employees.

Reliance Foundation’s Significant Outreach

Reliance Foundation, the philanthropic arm of RIL, has made commendable strides in improving quality of life. The foundation has impacted an impressive 69.5 million lives since its inception, reflecting the company’s commitment to social responsibility and community upliftment.

Aligning with Stakeholder Interests

Reliance recognises the importance of meeting stakeholder needs holistically. It remains committed to earning and retaining the trust of its stakeholders and the broader ecosystem, thereby optimising its sustainable value creation potential.
