Promoting the idea of ‘Bharat’ ‘through ‘Indianizing’ education

In an age, where the western culture seems to have penetrated every walk of our lives, to see the young girl students greeting every one with a courteous ‘Namaste’ with folded hands at the sprawling campus of Jayoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, a premier institute for women education in the country, is certainly a pleasant surprise.

This surprise is further accentuated, when one finds the girls singing the National Anthem before the beginning of their classes. Not only the girls but everyone, who sets foot on the campus, really feel proud of being Indian.

The University takes pride in promoting the Indian culture, the Bharata’s way of life, and inculcating the core values, that have been the hallmark of our social life since ages, among its students.

“Respecting National Anthem and National Song is included among the ‘Respects’ of the University…I feel that these ideas must be inculcated in the students in the formative period of their life,” says Dr. Pankaj Garg, the founder and advisor of the University.

“At Jayoti Vidyapeeth we also encourage the girls to respect Indian signs, symbols, idea originator and traditions…the citizens, especially the younger lots, seem to be completely oblivious of our signs and symbols,” he says.

Dr. Garg wants the people to shun ‘Emoji’, which is a Japanese term for the ideograms or smileys used in Japanese electronic messages and web pages. Emoji, which originally means pictograph, comprising “picture and letter’, today almost completely dominates the way we convey our feelings and reactions to the situations on social media in our country.

“We want our students to learn about the western scientists…but they must also know about our rich treasure of knowledge, our great scientists, philosophers and thinkers, who gave the world so many things,” he went on to say.

Besides the Varsity also respects the last qualifying examination and that is the basis for entry in the higher education courses as well as providing subsidy in tuition fee. Jayoti Vidyapeeth, which has NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) Accreditation Grade (With B+ on 7 Point Scale or above), provides subsidy in Tuition Fee/Membership Fee/Other Academic Activities and Weightage in admissions for further studies.

The subsidy comes as a great help for the poor and meritorious students, who may not have got an opportunity to fulfill their dreams for lack of monetary resources.

The University strongly believes that the past researches lead to the present researches and provide scope for the future researches.
