Company’s inclusive workplace and digital accessibility efforts earn CII recognition for disability inclusion

PUNE (India CSR): Persistent Systems, a global Digital Engineering and Enterprise Modernization leader, is strengthening disability inclusion by embedding accessibility across its workplaces, digital platforms, enterprise applications and employee experiences.

The company’s approach focuses on accessibility by design, governance, leadership accountability, independent audits and the implementation of global accessibility standards. Its efforts are aimed at enabling employees, candidates and visitors, including people with disabilities, to navigate workplaces and digital systems independently and confidently.

Persistent’s sustained work in this area has now been recognised with the CII Award for Excellence in Disability Inclusion 2026 in the category “Best Employer – Physical Accessibility.”

Accessibility Integrated into Workplace and Digital Systems

Persistent’s Pune facility served as the benchmark site for the CII evaluation. Accessibility was incorporated at the architectural design stage and implemented in line with India’s Harmonized Guidelines & Standards for Universal Accessibility 2021.

The company has also aligned its digital platforms and applications with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This reflects Persistent’s integrated approach to both physical and digital accessibility.

While the CII evaluation focused on the Pune facility, Persistent’s accessibility framework is being implemented across its workplaces and digital ecosystem globally.

CII Recognition Highlights Persistent’s Inclusive Design Approach

The CII jury recognised Persistent’s comprehensive and standards-based approach to accessibility. The evaluation noted the company’s efforts across workplace infrastructure, digital platforms, enterprise applications and organisational culture.

Across the employee lifecycle, Persistent drives equitable hiring, career development, awareness, allyship and inclusion. Accessibility and inclusive design checks are also integrated into the company’s engineering model, helping ensure that digital solutions are more inclusive, usable and effective for a wider range of users.

Vinit Teredesai, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, Persistent, said:

“This recognition reflects the systems, standards and accountability we have

established to advance accessibility across our workplace and digital ecosystem. At Persistent, accessibility is embedded into how we operate, innovate and deliver. By integrating accessibility into our engineering and workplace practices, we are creating more inclusive experiences for our people while helping deliver accessible digital solutions that better serve the needs of our clients.”

Sunil Misra, Principal Advisor, Confederation of Indian Industry, said Persistent distinguished itself through a comprehensive and standards-based approach to accessibility.

“The organization demonstrated how accessibility considerations can be integrated across workplace infrastructure, governance and digital systems, supported by strong leadership commitment and continuous assessment. Its approach reflects the growing importance of embedding accessibility into the design and operation of modern workplaces,” he said.

The recognition reinforces Persistent’s commitment to building accessible workplaces and digital systems that support dignity, independence and equal opportunity for people with disabilities.
