ROURKELA, Odisha (India CSR): The bustling city of Rourkela is in mourning after the sudden demise of Premnath Barabhaya, a beloved tea stall owner, allegedly due to the deafening noise of DJ music during a Saraswati Puja idol immersion ceremony. On the evening of Feb 22, 2024, Barabhaya, a 50-year-old resident of the Ganesh Market area, was reportedly attending the idol immersion ceremony near his stall. Local youths and shopkeepers had organized the event, complete with a DJ system brought in from Bhadrak district.
According to the media report, the music played at an excessively high decibel level throughout the ceremony, creating a cacophony that Barabhaya couldn’t escape.

Witnesses reported seeing Barabhaya visibly struggling with the loud noise. He soon started complaining of dizziness and discomfort. His condition rapidly deteriorated, and he was rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) in critical condition.
