PUNE: Lavasa Corporation Ltd (LCL) has been always conscious of its responsibility towards the local villagers and low income group as the important stakeholders. The community development (CSR) initiatives for the upliftment of these groups includes health, education, drinking water supply, housing, employment, providing basic infrastructure and Gaothan development indicate LCL commitment towards the under privileged community. Knowledge is the only instrument of production that is not subject to diminishing returns.
Education is the basis of acquiring knowledge which is the foundation for self development, keeping this in mind LCL is trying to ensure quality education to the children of area.
Apart from good teaching basic educational tools and good infrastructure is necessary, LCL has constructed school buildings and repaired some of them. To mark the 68th Independence Day of India, CD department of LCL distributed education material to 247 students of 8 ZP Schools in Lavasa project area.
This year on the eve of Independence Day children were gifted a compass box with Pencil, Eraser, Sharpener and Scale. Many children have seen such compass first time in their life. Children liked it as it was evident from their big smile and happiness while LCL officials were interacting with the children. One of the School teachers Mr. Andhare from Palse ZP School said such educational gifts inspires children for education, school is thankful to Lavasa for this initiative.
On this event Mr. Mrityunjoy Goswami, AVP Admin and Finance who was present during the distribution said,” – I would recall the famous quote of Mr. JRD Tata that the most significant contribution organized industry can make is by identifying itself with the life and problem of the peoples of the community. Lavasa is doing a greater extent towards this and focuses its support for better education to the children of the villages in and around of Lavasa.
CD Department is already in touch with the ZP education department and the local Gram Panchayet to extend better educational support to these ZP schools aiming at encouraging students to participate in various district and state level competitions and prove their talents besides providing them quality education”. Lavasa CSR head Mr. Upendra Sontakke and his team coordinated the event.
